@@uniwolfgamer1094 Pretty sure Keralis just likes goofy nicknames, which are usually one or more steps removed from the actual names. Though it could come from him not having an English adjacent language as his primary language, so maybe (this is pure speculation) he was prone to mispronouncing, and just decided to lean into it.

@@uniwolfgamer1094 that's why I specified that it primarily just seems like he likes goofy nicknames before going into speculative other sub-reasons. It doesn't seem so much an unwillingness, but rather a possible weakness he turned into a positive. And when your new standard is endearing nicknames, then why go back to a more formal usernames/names?

Then at about 9 minutes, 15 seconds in Grian's Season 6, Episode 10, you have Xisuma calling him "G R ian" like "Gee-are-ee-in".

I pronounce it "Isuma" without the x, or "Exsuma" I think? I have a hard time typing words how you say them or phonetically. I hope that makes sense, seeing everyone else's pronunciations of his name is really interesting to see. I also have a theory Keralis says "sashwammy" because his accent makes it hard to say "Xisuma" in English no matter how he pronounces it. But that's just a game theory lolol

I say his name like Isuma too, which might be correct yeah. I think the shashwami started as an accent thing for Keralis that he turned into a nickname (wouldn't know for sure though since I'm a pretty new Hermitcraft fan)

"shashwam" was actually joehills' first attempt at pronouncing xisuma's name! keralis found it funny and kept using it.

First time I encountered Xisuma’s name was in a fanfiction, and I didn’t know how to pronounce it. But I’m a language/history nerd, so I mentally ran through all the pronunciation variations I could think of and settled on Shee-suma. I think I was thinking of the Xiao dynasty at the time? Idk, but it’s stuck in my head now, and I use it interchangeably with the other variants I’ve heard.

When I found out his name is "a musics" backwards, I dedicated myself to pronouncing it "Skezweem Ah Void," as that's roughly what it would sound like when reversed phonetically. One of the best decisions of my life, honestly.
