I would also add Real Racing 3 and Asphalt series to that mix (because I'm a mobile gamer...) Grid series actually reminds me of Real Racing 3 gameplay... It's very similar...

@@TheDevilHimself123 Real Racing 2 was the good ol' days... It was PTP, (which is great, because no pay to win) and cost about 6 bucks... I used to play it on my dad's I-phone 4.... The graphics were as good as RR3, and the physics engine was arguably better. I still charge up that old phone just to play it... For an app that's nearly a decade old, it still shows what mobile games are capable of.... These days I play on PC, but mobile gaming is something that takes me back a decade, and just has a nostalgic feel to it Edit: I've never edited due to the amount of likes I have gotten... And no this isn't a cringe thank you, but I'm curious... Have that many people played RR2? They removed it from the appstore the day RR3 came out...

Grid 2 was my favorite. Every car's handling was so unique, multiplayer lobbies were busy and competitive, there were certain combos that worked so well for me I couldn't stop playing (and winning). Hopefully this will be similar. Thinking about pre-ordering it for the launch tonight as it's my birthday tomorrow :P Not sure if it's worth it tho

Idk, looks just too arcady-ish for my likings. :/ Might give it a shot tho.. The graphics look stunning, not gonna lie, but the way the car enters the corners.. That might be me being used to sim-racers.. Maybe my opinion will change.

Not just you, maybe i have to high expectations because i mostly played GT and other Sim Racers in the past. But if a take a look at Forza Horizon which isnt a Sim at all but in comparison its more Sim than Grid in some aspects like Handling. If Grid would provide the same Handling Models i had bought it instantly.

It seems to have all assistsants on. They go into cornerns and hold in there too smooth to be drivent wihtout help. I think these videos are made to show perfect driving and thus using all assistants.

i think(no i actually hope) that it's the assistance system to blame. First grid is very arcade with help systems too - and i really hope help system is the reason why this one looks like arcade too.

Grid has always been arcadey, its meant to be a game that motorsport and racing fans can enjoy casually, not something you play seriously like iRacing, Asetto Corsa, GT Sport, or even Forza

@@gaspedalghost2171 The Crew 2 has no damage model, Nitrous Boosting, Giant Ramps and Jumps off of buildings and had wall riding. It's not and never was a simcade, it's Arcade. The whole theme of the game with championships etc had the basis of a sim game but the actual handling model along with all the elements above were full arcade and very much like the first Crew game. Remove the championships, take that same handling model with all the crazy elements and put it back into a story based game and you would think very differently. Multi coloured giant boxes appearing in the middle of the road to upgrade your car in a "level up" style system.... Come on man, I like the game as well and even got invited by Ubisoft to cover it before it released but let's not try turn it into something it really is not.

@@gaspedalghost2171 I play with a Logitech G29 bro. A wheel doesn't have anything to do with all of the elements I listed above as they are all still part of the game's DNA. A wheel also doesn't change the core handling model. The whole purpose of a wheel is to create an immersive feel which makes the end user feel like they are in a more true to life car style set up. That has absolutely nothing to do with a games handling model and gameplay elements. Attaching a wheel to an arcade racer gives you the illusion that your experience may feel more life like but this doesn't change the core basis of what you are playing. If I attached my wheel and pedal set up to Mario Kart will the multicoloured boxes with Green shells, Invincibility Stars and Banana skins suddenly disappear? No. Would the huge ramp jumps and Nitrous Boosting disappear? No. The arcade elements as well as the handling model remain the same. A Ford Mustang speeding up a ramp, flying through the air, landing on a building, then nitrous boosting around a corner...... Multicoloured boxes with random items.... Doesn't this sound remarkably familiar? Think about it.... If you replace the Mustang with Bowser or Luigi, you actually have Mario Kart! The fact I can even logically compare the 2 is ridiculous. Forza Horizon is the only open world racer that can argue to be simcade. I do respect your opinion, but I have to respectfully disagree.

Nice review and thanks for the gameplay. I played Grid back in 2008 when it got out and it was amazing, but the second part and Autosport never got my like the first one. Glad to see that this game bring back the complete copkit view. I will probably get it day one.

I just watched ACG's review and he said there was very little visual damage and virtually no ai crashes, yet I see both here in DJS's footage. ACG is a trusted reviewer so he wouldn't lie, it's like he was playing a different version or something.

No i see it too. That was one of the things that made grid 1 and grid 2 so unique is your car reacted in a visceral way to the road, how fast you were going and contact with other cars. This game looks more like typical racing games that look like your just floating on the road until you get to a corner

The most important part should be the PHYSICS! These look TERRIBLE! The car should perform in the game how it would in real life, this looks like it has the physics of an early 2000's arcade game.

@@evoclay there's a wide variety of sim games for people that want cars to drive like they do IRL...and no, for arcade games physics, tho important, aren't the most important thing developers focus on.
