I play this game to explore. I had someone take me out after going to both the furthest system reachable past Beagle Point and also the uppermost system reachable with a normal ship above the galaxy. Hundreds of systems found and mapped. I took my time and found a couple of really incredible systems while out. I made the mistake of coming back to the bubble in open. Paid for it instantly. They took me out with no shields and weapons in seconds. I no longer play in open. If it wasn't for solo mode, I would have stopped playing the game entirely. People who have fun destroying others with no actual desire of a fair fight are not playing a game. They are taking something personal out on strangers. I deal with enough road rage in my actual life that I don't need to deal with it in a game. But, I am glad to see a video like this. What you are doing here makes me happy.

same... i find the whole notion of playing in Solo, ridiculous. I feel for ppl who get ganked and I agree, many of those gankers take it beyond realism...but still, what is the point of playing, at all, if there is ZERO RISK??? @@donnysheldon5835

When I used to play Elite I would play in Open almost exclusively, except when I was exploring. If getting killed didn't delete all your data then I wouldn't care, but the game punishes explorers way too harshly for dying, even if it's just at the hands of a troll. An exploration ship is woefully underequipped for PvP, unless you're using an Anaconda. There's literally 0 risk to a ganker if he goes after an exploration ship so I can't really blame players for mitigating the risk.

Nowadays you sell on your carrier so you can't lose your data. And before carriers you just go solo as you return from a big trip. Why would someone risk their data from a long trip? And if they do, they do, right?

Thanks for the reminder; I've updated the description to include a link to this build. The PAs here are all grade 5 efficient with a mix of target lock breaker, dazzle, and dispersal as the added effects.

A bit old for PVP aren't you? By my estimation, anyone who's had an account for over 14 years must be at least 26, but probably 30 (!) maybe you should focus on something more age appropriate and suitable for your reflexes, like mining 😂

Im most impressed by your ability to manage your Power distributor nodes so well, youre ability to put them all into thrust and then immediately all into sheilds instantly before a collision is so impressive to me, maybe I just suck at managing them, but even with convenient keybinds set up on my Joystick and throttle that can be activated in an instance, I can hardly even manipulate them much in the heat of combat, let alone this instantaneously

With lots of practice at situational awareness, pip mgmt starts feeling natural. I don't even min/max it; there are even quicker ways to manage it that most serious PVPers use: pip macros that automatically dump pips into prearanged patterns. I'm manually moving them using a hat switch on top of the stick.

I love to see anti-ganker shenanigans like this. I always hated the FDL and never wanted to use it because it was a PvP ship, and I am too stupid for video games. But this is inspiring. I need to use this exact build as it is exactly my cup of tea. Even if I am terribad, I still want to use it just to send the message. And I agree. This is EXACTLY how to use the FDL properly.

Hat switch on top of my stick (Thrustmaster T.16000 FCS). Shields left, engines up, weapons right. Not macro'd like most PVPers use, so it's a bit inefficient moving pips one at a time.

This video is from 2018. At the time I was playing ED with my roll bound to some slaw device RX Viper pedals. I had wracked up a lot of hours on them and the insulation on one of the cables to the RJ45 connector for my right pedal actually wore through during the fight causing the axis bound to my roll to short out. Starmony was a homie and gave me time to electrical tape the connection and rebind the axis. At the point shields broke that last time I could have still left but I wanted to stick around to see it through. Obviously I stuck around till death and gave a gg afterward, not sure what else you would want me to do at that point lol. He definitely earned the kill and the 900k credits that came with it. Either way figured some context would be interesting for you to have.

I've used the same method since 2016. Open "C:\Users\*username*\AppData\Local\Frontier_Developments\Products\elite-dangerous-odyssey-64\GraphicsConfiguration.xml" in Notepad, scroll down a little to "GUIColour", "" and change the MatrixRed, MatrixGreen, and MatrixBlue numbers. My color's called Baron Blue (got it from a guide on the offical forums years ago): 0, 0.33, 0.75 0, 1, 0 1, 0, 0

why do you have so many target breaker those effects are not stacking Thermal Conduit is just better especially in your case that you are able to be up close Short Range will be a better choice. and not having a module reinforcement package can be quite problematic.

BTV… FDL is better shield tank them hull tank, because has not much slots.

Correct! It's generally better to run engineered shield cell banks in the two class 4 slots and leave when shields are done. That plus switching out the hull to engineered lightweight give you 10-12 m/s better speed then this particular build.

Did you ever get involved in active player groups that focused on PVP? There was a glorious golden age of Elite around the times of these videos (2017-2020) where lots of organic PVP happened at community goals and founders world between lawful groups like SPEAR, AA, 13th Legion, etc and criminals/gankers like SDC, Nomads and The Code along with plenty of random wing fighting and 1v1s among everyone in a constant battle to see who the best are and who just talk a good game. These three fights were during a period where I was being actively hunted by several groups (long story), so I was taking the fight to them when I could isolate them. As for right now in 2023, yeah...there isn't as much threat from gankers anymore. All but the most dedicated like Andy Polaris (just hang out in Founders World long enough and you'll see his gang) have moved onto other games. But there definitely are still organic fights to be found if you go out looking.
