In this video, I analyse why Griffith from Berserk stands out amongst villains, what makes a good villain, take apart Griffith's psyche, philosophy of Übermensch and evil in Berserk, inverted Christian symbolism, and more. (I forgot to mention some things in the video, which I added to the description.)
Some additional notes:
- the idea of thesis, antithesis, and synthesis was actually popularised by Hegel, but it precedes even Hegelianism; Nietzsche's philosophy relies on the same process, except that in the form of Apollonian and Dionysian principles uniting within the tragedy, thus ushering in the Übermensch etc.
- when I mentioned pure rationalism in regards to Übermensch, I was referring to the idea that humans would have to give up their humanity if Nietzsche's ideal were to be realised, not to Nietzsche's philosophy (he criticised rationalism and upheld creativity)
