After 0:40 it perfectly captures all of Griffith's development in the tower, a man broken not only in body, but also in his ideals who in the end decides to free himself from his own humanity, a tragic character, although it is normal to hate Griffith for everything he did, but honestly, after a year of torture, there's no way he won't end up mentally ill.

Some hate him, some love him... but one thing can be said for sure. His character and his relationship to Guts are significant aspects that have made Berserk a masterpiece. I love Berserk!

This edit is beautiful. Griffith is my favorite character across all of anime. While i don't support all of his actions in the manga. There is something very human about him that us very relatable on a personal level and therefore i really love the effort Miyura put in creating him.

Unpopular opinion: I think people are massively misunderstanding Griffith, even more than Guts. Griffith's words at Primrose hall are very nuanced, if you take his standards for his "friend" you can say Ganishka would be his "friend" . That's where Guts got it wrong. Also he did not see Guts as a mere pawn so the majority of the audience got it wrong too. In my opinion when he was talking about a friend im sure he was specifically talking about Guts, not what a friend would be or what he would look like, when explaining the word friend he talked about Guts. Guts was the one who opposed him, every battle he would do his own thing, he wouldn't go crazy over Griffith or his orders like Casca and others had. Hence Guts was slowly but steadily becoming the Castle. After the Duel, Griffith's illusion was shattered, he started to feel something he never felt before, thats why he went to Charlotte, not to try and regain control but to see if a taste of the Castle life, even for a night, would give birth to the "things" he felt when Guts felt, and yet he could not stop himself from thinking about Guts, throughout his torture and insanity HE was the shining light that kept him alive. Guts was now unattainable, and Griffith in all his insanity seeing Guts after a year of him leaving, without any explanation he shows up and is showing a side Griffith never seen. He doesn't like it, he hates it. Guts hugging Casca, no, he despised that, and thats why he did what he did during the Eclipse

People who say he “did nothing wrong” don’t understand The concept of wrong. Yes, humans do wrong naturally and make mistakes, but it’s still a mistake and it’s still wrong, so we strive to be better, there is no being “broken” only being weak minded, impulsive and selfish. Griffith did a lot of wrong, and upon in depth Analysis his character is arguably the most perfected incarnation of evil ever written, hence why I love him as a villain.
