I could go back 50 or 60 years it’s a crying shame to see how it’s changed and not for the better. I first started going to Rhyl as an 8 or10 year old sad to say them days were not getting back i’m afraid it’s gone with all the broken windows and all the louts running round, spoiling everything and destroying everything it won’t be long before there’s nothing left at all. I don’t wanna put the mockers on anybody. Enjoy it while you can but you’ll never have what we had.

Me and my mate, 19 and 24 at the time, went on the JetStream with my 14 year old sister and her friend. We screamed like girls, well, we shouted F###iiiiiiing Helllllllllll a lot whilst holding on for dear life, the whole thing shook and rattled, the girls couldn't stop laughing at us! Happy Days, when Rhyl was a good day out.

Had some happy memories holidays in Rhyl staying at Sunnyvale camp Rhyl and going on this fair in the 70s and then in the 80s&90s taking my kids to the same camp and fair…was there a pub next to it called the schooner? And I always remember my parents taking me into the ferry pub next to Sunnyvale camp…then I remember us booking into winkups caravan park towyn and getting the bus into Rhyl but because we was always going to Sunnyvale camp Rhyl my parents didn’t like it because they missed the ferry pub lol 😂

We miss the fun fair' look what they have built now a load of metal buildings in the place were the fair used to be and they have knocked down the old suncenter built a hotel and acriss from arcades on the front built another suncenter and made it smaller and more expensive to get in it is now £15 per petson for 4 hours only check it out' it is called SC2 they should have left rhyk the way it was and fixed the fair ground up instead of knocking it down so fuming about it.🤯😤😤

What they should have done is dropped a bomb on the whole of the dirty rotten drug filled hell hole that would be a much better solution and cheaper to

I can remember all the small rides and things for children to play on all along the sea promenade. It’s not just the fair ground that’s gone Thay have taken the heart out of Rhyl.including the theatres and the skating .thay have left everyone with a pile of concrete to walk on now it’s bare.not a exciting place to go anymore.

There was more to Rhyl than a beach and a funfair back in 1986 this video doesn't do the place justice

Councillors of this town both paid and elected, utterly destroyed the town's character. I expect that a great deal of money exchanged hands behind the scenes in this horrific massacre of a once lovely town. Is anyone coming forward to own up to their crimes ?

Resorts like Blackpool, Southport, Bridlington, Cleethorpes, Skegness, Great Yarmouth, Southend, Clacton, Weston-super-Mare, and so many others, are heaving with the same sights and sounds. Bygone age? For Rhyl, yes, but that's not the case elsewhere.

I've a small bit of home video of Rhyl from 1992 showing the gauge model railway that ran alongside the lake, back then there wasn't any steel fence going around it just a small stone wall, now there is for some reason, and also some footage driving along Towyn Rd towards Abergele and Pensarn and across the bridge that goes over the station to the beach. Would upload it but I'm cautious of anyone swiping the footage and claiming it's theirs, which has happened in the past where someone stole one of my videos and uploaded it to their channel. I'm sure lots of people took videos back then, even when video cameras where expensive and heavy, but very little of those videos appear online, maybe because most people can't be bothered to digitise the footage and upload it (far too much hard work lol), whereas today with smartphones etc everything's uploaded at the touch of a button and using in house software.
