Exactly..Honestly one of the single luckiest people in the history of anything...your best friend is the man in the industry and is building a great faction in DX and as its getting hot has to retire and then he marries the bosses daughter also. See I'm not saying he isnt talented and he actually made a great heel BUT he wouldn't have gotten into the position in the first place if it wasn't for who was around or married and thats a cold hard fact. Shawn was DX..Hunter was a sidekick simple as that and the outlaws were coming on board regardless of Shawn retiring that was set up already so it would have been amazing to see a DX led Shawn carry on through those great times.

@@Skibbitypappappa I think people love to ignore HHH's hard work in this. Yes he was in DX because of his friendship, but he also had to carry the ball when he was thrust as the leader and he did. He could have easily gotten that spot and flopped. The marriage logic I always find a bit silly. Triple H and Stephanie started dating in 2000. By May 2000 HHH was a 4x WWF Champ. He was a 2x IC Champ. He had already been taking initiative to sit in with production and learn as much as he could. I think there's a reason why anybody who was ever in prominent positions in WWF/E always laugh off this marriage logic for HHH's success. You can certainly make a great argument that he wouldnt be an executive in the company without the marriage but HHH was already ascended into a top spot before he even dated Stephanie, much less married her in 2003. And he ascended into that spot during the most stacked roster in history.

That's cuz of the curtain call. His push got killed over it becuase he was the only one they could punish for it. Shawn was the #1 guy, and Hall and Nash left the company. HHH got left holding the bag.

Eh the smile angle was a knee injury that people gave a lot of heat to Shawn for, truth is 1) at that time when a wrestler got injured many doctors (some I am not sure even quite knew much about wrestling being a work) would basically flag them to not "wrestle" anymore, you seen it even with more modern guys like Edge (and hes back now), 2) Putting people over was somewhat tricky business for a top wrestler back in the day especially if you were trying to protect your brand (Stone cold refusing to job for Lesnar as an example, Bret not wanting to lose in Canada, hell most of Hogans career) so yes the lost smile angle was pretty silly but this was not like Shawn Michaels was the only wrestler ever to do something like this, just the segment was silly. Keep in mind HBK was literally a big staple keeping WWF/WWE alive during a very volatile time for the business with the rating wars as well. NWO became a thing and Bischoffs "83 weeks" started to happen. So yes Shawn was hard to deal with but as much as he was hard to deal with, I feel people dont respect 90's Shawn enough. He was by far the best in ring performer at the time and seems to get targeted heavy for his issues when wow soooo many wrestlers back then had an insane amount of mental/drug problems. The atmosphere was like a shark tank.

Triple h was main eventing before he got with stephanie, it took a whole lot work aside from being fortunate to be hbk sidekick and be in dx, he was left without hbk after wrestlemania 14 and the odds on exactly staying over or getting more over without shawn micheals was low, and triple h was merely a supporting cast to hbk who was the leader and the only one who was over, and overnight triple h had to assume the role of leader and not only get himself over but had to keep school alive because without hbk the odds were against hunter, but he did keep it alive and he went beyond that and arguably got it even more over and got himself over in the process, all this stephanie is the reason he got to the top is just a way of taking away the credit triple h deserves, triple h is one of the greats without doubt, he ain't quite shawn micheals but not many if any are that level, I respectfully disagree with that opinion of triple h

Everyone loved working with Shawn Michaels bell to bell as they knew they’d be in the best match of the night, people disliked Shawn Michaels backstage not in the ring.

Overrated ya know, 🤣🤣 if you have any idea about wrestling at all you will know that he is the greatest of all time, most wrestlers in the main event are backstabbing pricks that do their best to keep their spot and bury whoever they can, hbk just had the balls to not hide it from anyone, his behaviour has nothing to do with how great he was in the ring, people should learn to seperate the two
