Those evil bastards killed my friend, Lauren Wagner. I grew up with her all thru high school, we had graduated only a few months before they took her. She was well liked, a real sweetheart, and after forty five years it still hurts and confuses everyone who knew her. Rest in peace, my friend.

Born in 71, grew up in the area, and still live here. This is was so terrifying back then, I feared for my mom and sister (and myself let's be real) every time they left the house. Watching the news was a nightmare. Then we experienced it all again in 84/85 with Ramirez.

😰 That would of been so traumatic to go through the fear of both killers.

Yeah same here with Hillside especially since my mom had some friend of a friend friend's connection with one of the victims. There was a student in my school who had been harassed by two men in a car while the killers were active. Ramirez was scary. My sister and I were alone in our parents' house so my mom hired a male UCLA student to stay with us when they were out of town.

I was 12-13 yrs old when this all went on. I didn't live in "LA" but in LA county. South of it . Thank God. But, my heart goes out to the victim's and their family's. I wish this and all past tragedy's never happened.😥 Love to you both. Thank you for loving all about Hollywood and all she has to bring in History. 🥰

I was close in age, grew up mostly in Newport Beach and Santa Monica.I think the news on the subject affected my worldview(and took my appetite). At the time,Los Angeles punk was gaining momentum and an early band had a song called Hillside Strangler.

I’m a few months late here, but thank you for covering this story. Sadly, my Mother’s friend, Lauren Wagner, was a victim… They went to High School together and Lauren was a very sweet girl and a good student, according to my Mom. She was a pretty red-headed girl. Lauren was taken from just outside of her home in Sepulveda by the two who claimed they were undercover police officers… At that time, my Mom lived just a couple blocks away from where Lauren lived and had been abducted. My family was so shaken, they ended up selling their house there and left the area, though my Great Grandmother also owned a home there and she stayed. This story still haunts my Mom all these years later. She doesn’t like to talk about it. I’m glad to know people haven’t forgotten about those 2 sick bastards and thank you for talking about Lauren. She was actually the 8th victim and when police went to tell her family the devastating news, the media had beat them to it and were already there hoping for an interview with her family. Imagine how devastated they must’ve been… This story will always get to me because this was my Mom’s friend and could’ve easily been my Mom…What the Hillside Stranglers’ victims went through is unimaginable. Those 2 demons destroyed a lot of lives and a lot of families forever. God rest the souls of those poor victims.

In the mid-1970's, my friend Sue went to their upholstery shop in Glendale to get an estimate. She talked with Kenneth Bianchi. Everything about him and the place creeped her out so completely, she left immediately.

I lived through that. Both my sister-in-law & I had jobs that we were driving home late @ night. My hubs worried more about her: she was more trusting & drove a car. I drove a '66 Chevy 3/4 ton pickup & had more attitude. Years later I had someone light me up as if they were police. When they approached the car & realized I wasn't alone (hubs had reclined his seat, not feeling well) they took off. I drove to the closest county sheriff station & reported it. Stay alert out there...

Another great true crime video, Michael. The gentleman was correct - these things never really disappear. The horror and aftermath may fade over time, but still always remain. The only thing we can all hope to gain is education and awareness - monsters will always live among us. Love to you and Jessica - glad you made it home from your long trip safe and sound! 💚

I moved to LA in 2015 from a neighboring (much safer) county and have lived near the NELA neighborhoods where several of the victims bodies were dumped. This entire area has always had a very dark and malevolent energy for me personally. Knowing more about the crimes that happened in this area, it makes total sense. Even on a sunny day, there is just this palpable air of doom around here. I have never felt completely comfortable living here. I feel like something dark is always in the air.

Awesome video! My mom was raised in Glendale and actually worked with a woman who was married to Peter buono, who was the nephew of Angelo buono. And in her square dancing class she knew a woman who was murdered by them. She was found in Angeles crest national forest. My moms dance class had to go in packs and escort people out in groups. Very scary.

I moved to Hawthorne in 1977 at age 13 from Pismo Beach. Seen reports about all the murders while they were going on. Of course we walked everywhere as kids. We just went in larger groups to like the mall or movies. Moved back to Pismo Beach the summer of 1978. We missed the small town feel and being so close to the ocean also not having to worry about serial killers. It was a scary living in LA at that time. We still drive to LA sometimes but it’s nice to live in a smaller town. Thanks Michael for another great video

Such a sad case. I remember picking up the book Two Of A Kind by Darcy O'Brien back in 1985 (I still have it) lol I couldn't believe the things that Buono an Bianchi did to those girl's. The innocent lives that were takin was senseless. They were monsters. It still appalls me to this day what those two did. While much focus is on the homicidal cousin's, let's not for get the victims, God rest their souls. I grew up in Long Beach and a buddy of mine was from Glendale. He bought a '64 Chevy convertible that needed a new top and Buono did the work. My friend lived just a couple of blocks away and he's still in shock about the whole thing to this day. He still has the car and calls it the "Buono Mobile". How many guys own a car that a serial killer worked on?
