For those new to chess, or just unfamiliar with tournament chess, and unsure who won this game, here is how you can tell. In this game, and in most major chess tournaments, the players play on a DGT board. DGT boards are electronic, and have sensors in them that allow them to detect the board position and to be connected to computers and the internet, so that the moves can be recorded and the game can be relayed for live viewing on chess websites etc. Using this type of board, the result of the game can be indicated by placing the kings in certain configurations in the center of the board at the end of the game. Placing both kings on black squares indicates black won, placing both kings on white squares indicates white won, and placing one king on white and one on black indicates a draw. These configurations were chosen to indicate a result, because by placing the kings directly next to each other in the center of the board an illegal chess position is reached (one king cannot attack another since doing so would place it in check), so there can be no ambiguity that a result and not a real chess position is being indicated. In this game, at the end, the arbiter places both kings on black, so therefore black (Carlsen) won.

Carlsen has no need to concern about blitz tournament result, because he is now an official world champion. Quick rating and blitz rating are nothing. The world top chess scene only cares about regular rating and ranking.

After watching this game, I wondered: Is it required in blitz and maybe standard games, that you must hit the clock with the same hand you moved the piece with? Both Carlsen and Grishschuk don't use their left hands at all. I did not think this was the rule. but perhaps times have changed.
@infiniteuniverse4757
@infiniteuniverse4757 6 жыл бұрын
That's been a rule for as long as I've been playing tournament chess. Article 6.2.b of the Fide rules handbook says: "A player must press his clock with the same hand with which he made his move. It is forbidden for a player to keep his finger on the clock or to ‘hover’ over it."

For those who did'nt notice Carlsen won, if you pay atention at the end Grischuk plays when he saw the clock, then Carsen realised the flag on Grischuk clock... the expresion in Carlsen face was a release because Grischuk was better so he said: "sorry" at the end!

I think this channel should at least put an overlay or annotation showing who won at the end of the match because sometimes its not clear who resigned or did they draw or something. It is better than putting it on the description which could be spoilers.

It's convention to place both Kings in the center when it's a Draw, and the comment above from infiniteunvierse is correct. I like this way of handling things, it shows class and respect for the opponent and the game when you engage in such things, though depending on the location of your respective Game, even a handshake can garner looks leading they who extended their hand with the feeling that the other individual thinks your behavior may perhaps indicate arrogance and/or superciliousness.

@crazysaps Its a matter of experience, playing what you know best and what your opponant might not know as well as you do! But i guess if this is a start, on white play pawn to e4 first and work around that! On black, look up "Kings Indian" against a white D4 opening and look up the "French defence" against a white E4

People who are smart enough to keep their money safe. In crowded places like that you could very easily be pickpocketed if your wallet is in your back pocket. It is extremely difficult, however, to pick someone's wallet out of their side pocket without the person realizing what's going on.

We didn't see a clock, but obviously they run out of time, cause Magnus pointed at the clock. but who lost, I carefully examined the waiting periods between the moves of both players, and had the impression that Grischuk had one longer period of thinking than Carlsen, so I think Magnus won on time
