Grishuk & Platov 1990 Europeans OSP

Although you can tell they were just recently put together, this was still one of the more difficult OSPs that year. Interestingly, you see Natalia Linichuk in this footage doing commentary. If I'm not mistaken, she was Grishuk's former coach when Oksana was a junior but Grishuk left Linichuk to skate with Platov and his coach Natalia Dubova in late 1989. But when it was discovered that Grishuk and Alexander Zhulin (a rival) were having an affair in 1992, she was booted out of Dubova's camp and Platov was teamed up with a very young Tatiana Navka. However, Platov decided to reunite with Oksana and they went to Oksana's first coach, Natalia Linichuk. However, the couple split with Linichuk in 1996 and they eventually went to Tatiana Tarasova. Warning: the music synchronization is a little bit off in this video.

Это чемпионат Европы в Ленинграде в СКК имени Ленина в феврале 1990 года. Дебют Оксаны и Жени в Европе. Их первый сезон вместе. 6 место.

Оксана и Евгений великолепны! Они так умеют захватывать! Думаю, что они достойно могли бы посоревноваться со многими из современных спортсменов, имея такую технику скольжения, поворотов, скорость и легкость катания. Они из тех, кому любые твизлы по-плечу! Люблю их очень! They are super-best!!!

Я их тоже люблю, но у них поддержки оч простые по теперешним меркам. У Грищук бы физ. подготовки для этого не хватило

Thank you for sharing! After watching this OSP, I just can’t help to think if it is the reason that their coach had them performed their 1996 FD. They look so similar in terms of music style and costume.. I love GP but their 1996 FD is my least favourite among all their performances (their dark history forever😂)

Wow seeing this for the first time. This is literally the only original dance this year I liked at all now that I see it, besides Klimova & Ponomarenko's amazing OD of course. And the Duchensays too, even though the content was not great. Most of the teams including even Usova & Zhulin had blah original dances this season.

Yes, it was not a good year for OSPs that year. This one and K&P's were well ahead of the pack with D&D in a distant third IMO.
