In areas where human development is relatively low, such as stretches of Canada and Alaska, American black bears (Ursus americanus) tend to be found more regularly in lowland regions. In parts of northeastern Canada, especially Labrador, American black bears have adapted exclusively to semi-open areas that are more typical habitat in North America for brown bears (likely due to the absence here of brown and polar bears, as well as other large carnivore species). They typically live in largely forested areas, but will leave forests in search of food, and are sometimes attracted to human communities due to the immediate availability of food.

Hey, good video. One thing though. I do not think the Grizzly's territory is that expansive. With this said, Brown bear and Grizzly bears are of the same species. Maybe this is where the overlap of the Grizzly and Brown bears territory is shown, but Grizzly's do not have that expansive range as shown in this video. ;) Edit: I wish you would have stated something about their aggressiveness... It is 100% possible to survive a Grizzly attack if you do the right things, but if a Black bear were to attack you and was hungry enough, you have little chance of survival. For Grizzly's: loud noises, yelling, standing tall, and if all else fails the fetal position WILL save your life. If a Black bear wanted to eat you, none of these things would work. Black bears would ignore most if not all of those attempts to startle the creature. Which this is evident due to Grizzly's killing their prey before eating, whereas Black bears eat their prey alive. So if you were to hike/camp in Black bear territory, please always bring mace or even a high caliber gun with you along your travels. NOTE: Grizzly bears can also ignore fetal positions if they are hungry enough. I have a BS in wildlife management, with 2 years of study in North American bears.

I prefer black bears. They are usually friendly towards people. Grizzlys scare me half to death

There are errors in your video. There are definitely no brown bear in Kansas. Haven't been for hundreds of years. Black bear however do live in southeast and northeast Kansas as well as most of the eastern US and mountain west states. Brown bear range is basically Yellowstone, Yosemite, high Sierras.

The geographic range is not accurate. Black bears inhabit far more of America than brown bears.
