Not a good idea to drive at night in northern Namibia and southern Angola. Most of the people there are cattle and goat herders. The cattle loves to sleep on the roads at night because the tarmac keeps the heat.
@GrizzlyNbearOverland
@GrizzlyNbearOverland Күн бұрын
Absolutely. We typically avoid driving at night unless we have no other choice. Most animals are on the move at day break and sunset.

Enjoy Angola we loved it. Try and get to Kalandula waterfalls. We never use fixers in African borders. It always ends up costing more .
@GrizzlyNbearOverland
@GrizzlyNbearOverland 3 күн бұрын
It cost $20 and possibly saved us hours. Not a bad investment we reckon 😉

Easy to see that there is no personal space here😂 You can tell there is no motive, and their intentions are good, though. The first instinct in the US would be to get everyone away from the truck ASAP.😊

I wouldn't just have pulled off the road near some village to camp in Angola...crime is rife and you guys need to be more careful in future...rather head to a camp where there is good security etc. Safe travels.

Security of the car: When at a market, does one of you stay with the car, or can you leave it alone?
@GrizzlyNbearOverland
@GrizzlyNbearOverland Күн бұрын
We do lock it but will then leave it alone. Acting suspicious and not trusting would change the experience in places and we don't feel comfortable with that.
