In this week's video we tackle the famous Old Telegraph track at Cape York.
This experience is up there with one of the most memorable trails we've done in over 5 years of international overland adventure.
The OTT is one of the most iconic off road adventures in all of Australia and it certainly lived up to it's reputation. Deep water crossings, deep wash outs and spectacular camping all the way.
Join us as we travel the world overland, exploring the cultures and traditions of all the countries we visit.
In our Land Rover Defender camper which is our full time home we will take you rock climbing, hiking and exploring across all the continents on this planet.
If enjoy our videos and would like to support to the work we do in creating them we'd love to have you join the team by becoming a patreon and ensuring the videos and journey continue.

Everything in here around Gunshot gave me more thrills than a show from 4WD 24-7. IT's all there: The adventure, nature, tec, friendship, only here just realistic. Grizzly proves actually very capable. But before all: Beautifully filmed, edited and set to music, Steph! Absolute crown is Piers Defender emerging from the bow wave at 15:18. It is impossible to say more 'Land Rover' than this shot !! Wow … another great one. Thank you and 🙏

Oi mates, awesome video again! Wasn't entirely sure whether I wanted to be a 'safety' jerk in the comments, but the section around 3 mins made some of the hairs on the back of my neck stand up ;) Obviously easy to be critical watching this on youtube from my comfy chair, but I just wanted to tell other viewers that it might not be ideal to stand in places where metal things might come flying if any part of the winching operation fails. Anyway, back to watching!

Love your content guys, thanks for sharing. Just a note if setting up a with a double line pull, if it doesn't come back to connect to your vehicle you aren't going to get the power increase it offers. Looping it back to the tree as you did is effectively still a single line pull, but now going around a corner.
@arbotree213
@arbotree213 Жыл бұрын
100% still works dude. The tree needs to match the force of the winch to not get pulled over hence doubling the pulling power 👌
@GanGoz
@GanGoz Жыл бұрын
@@arbotree213 No it doesn't dude, the rope needs to come back to the winching vehicle - think of it as having two ropes pulling the truck vs 1. If the second rope does not connect to the truck, it cannot assist with the pull.

Not sure what you mean there... I've spent the last 20 years working on oil rigs and completed many slinging and rigging courses. As long as nobody is standing in the line of fire whilst pulling tension on a winch wire then there's no real safety concern. Possibly could have put a dampner on the rope but seen as though nobody was anywhere near the line of fire it's not necessary.

Hi can i talk with you all
@TWX1138
@TWX1138 Жыл бұрын
I was a little surprised that you used your winch to pull the Patrol up out of the creek. I can think of three reasons to use the vehicle under-recovery's winch... first, the vehicle under-recovery has to run the engine anyway, so the amount of extra fuel in-total consumed would be lower for just one truck's engine running than for two trucks' engines. Second, if the vehicle under-recovery had used its winch, then your winch could have been used to anchor you to a tree to avoid the bouncing issue. Third, if the winch used in the recovery were to break, it would be the owner of the stuck vehicle's problem, and possibly indicative of a need to turn around if they weren't prepared, rather than if it were yours that broke when you weren't the one stuck. Please don't take this as some kind of harsh criticism, it's definitely not intended in that vein. I would just hate to see you in a bind because your recovery equipment had previously broke in trying to get someone else out of their bind when they had the equipment themselves for that purpose.
