Grooming a Yorkshire Terrier | Yorkies can be clipped in many styles, this Yorkie is kept short on the back with a #2 Stainless Steel Clip Comb over a #30 Blade. The furnishings are kept a little longer for an elegant look.

Thank you for sharing your process! This one is one well-behaved Yorkie! Such a cutie! I wish I’ve found this video before to help me groom our boy Bentley. He hated the groomer (well, anyone that wasn’t us) and we hated leaving him there for hours. So we decided it was best that I learned how to do it myself and I’d been doing it for the last 2 years of his life. He fought me just about the whole time so I have mad respects for all dog groomers. I got better at it every time and I wish I had more chances. He passed on 6/19/21 and since I’ve been watching videos of Yorkies on YT, the algorithm brought me your video.

Thank you for posting this video. I m in need of this for grooming my pet so long.Do not just take him out in the yard and turn the hose on him! To start, use tap water that's no warmer than the temperature you'd bathe in. If he can fit in a sink, bathe him there. swankypet.net/

Very well made video. This is the cut I've been looking for and have not found until this morning. And what a coincidence as my furbaby is getting a bath today and I will be giving her a little trim. We are both getting better at it. LOL. FYI to anyone who has a small dog who will not cooperate while you are attempting to make her/him gorgeous, try talking in a low, steady, constant voice. It calms my girl until she's practically asleep :).

What a patient dog! My Yorkie won't stay still enough for me to trust having anything sharp near him, lol. I can clip, sort of, but that? Nope. Needless to say, he always looks a bit scruffy.

1staidgirl take him to a groomer. If you brush them and teach him good habits at home while being groomed chances are at the groomers they will be able to do something cute like this on him. Im guessing you like a fluffy look like this?..

Well, he's good with having his paws handled. Probably because I would always play with his paws as a pup. So, I suppose that's a start. And now he is chill with brushing. At first, he kept trying to eat the brush, the little brat. Maybe I should try to accustom him to the trims a bit more before taking him to the groomers. And yes, he would look adorable with a look like that. I almost got him in a puppy cut the first time I tried. A slightly scruffy puppy cut, but it was a lot better than the before pic, lol. On the other hand, baths are not so fun. He is like a cat with water. I'm still not quite sure how to deal with that one. By the time I'm done, we are both soaked! I'll look into who has a good reputation with grooming dogs in my area (patience would have to part of their appeal, I should think) and go from there. Thanks for the reply. :)

1staidgirl hi! honestly, unless you really have a lot time and cookies. I'd take him to a groomer that will be able to tell you what he needs. sometimes work at home can do more harm than good. -friendly neighborhood groomer

I have two Yorkies aged 13 and 4, great little girls. I am going to pluck up the courage and start grooming them myself and your video has been most helpful. I was surprised to see a docked tail though so presume you are in the USA as docking has been illegal in the UK for many years.

First, thank you so much for your wonderful videos. You are so gentle and kind with dogs 🤗. I came across your channel after I did a very sad diy cut on my 14-year old Griffon Korthals 😳. He had a lot of matted bits after a winter of snows, wearing his snowsuit and boots. Have you ever groomed a Griffon (or similar breed) and made a video? If not, is that something you might be able to show? My poor guy. Thankfully, his inner cuteness comes through.

Needs some expertise in sensitive areas, I'd say. Nice to have him/her stand still for the whole process. Nothing like trust from your Yorkie. Beautiful for summer easier to brush and care for I expect.

I thought I did a great grooming of my yorkie who looked liked this one. You are fabulous. I just lost my 16 yr old yorkie and it took a lot for me to watch this but she looked just like mine. I'd love to know where this yorkie came from. I'm still grieving but I want another one as beautiful... 4 to 5 lbs.

My mobile groomer of 14 years had to retire because of her health. So now I'm left with trying to groom my yorkipoo myself. I won't take her to a new groomer, since my dog has some skin issues. Anyway, I hope I am able to follow your video, which is excellent, just have to get chunkers and thinners. Didn't know anything about those scissors. Wish me luck. Thank you!

Another great video! Thank you so much. Can you do a video on a chorkie that looks more Yorkie than anything, but her hair has a slight curl. When she's cut short it looks great, she looks like a full Yorkie, but once it begins to grow out we have that curl then she looks like a giant peach poofball!

This is how my sweet Yorkshire Terrier GiGi was. She is greatly missed. GiGi was so good and patient while getting her haircut. Overall obedience was excellent. Put down after a year of kidney failure. 10-09-01-18 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Sandra Shelton I had a fabulous beautiful mini Schnauzer that had to be put down the 27th of this month, January 2018. My heart is broken it's hard to look forward to anything at this point in time. She was my beautiful Hallelujah dog. Miss her so much. I know Yorkies can have some of the problems of the Mini Schnauzer but my granddaughter says I need a puppy and I have a niece that has two Yorkies I don't know their health conditions. How old was your baby and was her health questionable while you had her? Did the kidney failure happen suddenly. I'm so sorry for your loss I know the pain and emptiness felt. Diana

I JUST ADOPTED A TINY TEACUP YORKIE AND HE IS THE SWEETEST THING !! HE HAS NEVER BEEN TO A GROOMER SO I AM WORKING WITH HIM AND WHEN I BRUSH HIM HE FALLS ASLEEP LOL I HOPE THAT WHEN I GET HIM USED TO BEING GROOMED HE DOESNT FALL ASLEEP ON THE GROOMER !!

Hi, thank you. I would have to look back at my video but I use an assortment of shears and thinners. I have Kenchis, Adams Edge and the purple shears from a company called Afforable Grooming Shears. I also have some Geibs.

Tomorrow will be my FIRST full on grooming on her. My daughter always does it. It's up to me now because my daughter is out of town for a while. WISH THE DOG LUCK with me at the scissors! Ha!

Wish you were n the Tennessee area,, I gave 3 furbabies *yorkies** only 2.5 lbs,ea ages 6,7,10 yrs. All long hair,,I have taken them to 10 different groomerd, **only know how 2 clipper cut,** When I tell them 2 do what you r doing, they are confused, I have even showed them pic,of what I want, so I end up w just having the sanitary an paws trimed, still charge me 0ver 30. Thank you so much! My Yorkie is a troublemaker and does not like to be groomed, the groomers in the area where I live charge me double because she makes this little noise that sounds like a growl, however she is not growling, she is grunting and has NEVER offered to bite anyone, but you can't get through their stupid heads and I am tired of explaining or getting a surprise double bill when I pick her up. She listens to me more than anyone because of the sternness of my voice I suppose; because I do NOT believe in hitting, smacking, newspaper smacks, or any type of abuse. She is a sweetheart and not aggresive at all, I just hate they think she's growling when she's just grunting and complaining like a human 4 year old would.

I use to groom a Lhasa Apso that growled through the whole grooming and never snapped at me, he got rejected by other groomers. Try to find a groomer that can groom him. Find a groomer that grooms one dog at a time, its easy on the dog and the groomer is usually more relaxed grooming one dog at a time as some groomers have a room full of dogs to groom throughout the day would could be stressful.
