Groot 3084: Mack LE McNeilus Carry Can Garbage Truck

Seen here is one of the oldest Mack LE McNeilus Pacific Series FLs that Groot runs. I actually had no idea this truck existed, and that would be largely in part because it ran commercial for a while far away from my house. Since then it’s been a last resort spare, usually only running yard waste routes. You will also notice that this one is outfitted with a carry can, which as of late is not a very common sight from Groot but works pretty well for this route. I made sure to get lots of clips with carts being dumped, since that's not something you see all the time. And speaking of rarities, seeing this truck with a set of Dayton rims was just the cherry on top in my opinion. I also included some clips of 3137 that I got earlier that day, and I didn’t have enough of that truck for a full video but of course I couldn’t let that footage go to waste. Awesome! This truck looked and sounded like everything this truck should! Really cool seeing some old Dayton’s running around, they’re getting harder and harder to find, even on the oldest rigs. Nice to see those old Groot mudflaps peeking out too. The only thing that could possibly make this truck cooler is the old Groot G on the side to have the true 90’s look. Nice work, this one turned out great!

This truck sure was entertaining! I was glad to see this one still running for that reason, it seems like there aren’t a whole lot left. That’d be super cool if it had that, it stinks that they’ve rebranded all the equipment so well haha glad to hear you enjoyed the video!

Awesome nice video dude I love this truck. I really enjoyed this video too dude. This truck is a beast bro. I love the sound of this truck too dude. I like how this truck has a tipper too bro. I liked seeing all of the manual carts getting dumped too.

so is yard waste just collected year-round in Illinois since it's banned from landfills?

It’s only collected April 1- December 1, since during the winter everything is dormant. People with carts can still set them out, and it gets collected with garbage which isn’t a big deal since really it’s only organics

Awesome video! Really loved the roar of this truck! It’s always nice to see an older LE and it’s really cool that they put a carry can on this one. Awesome to see the driver dumping carts as well as manual bins. Really enjoyed the Curotto at the end as well. Nice work sir!

It’s pretty cool I’ve seen this truck out in Hanover once or twice running yard waste roads but normally the driver hasn’t let me film. It’s kind of cool to see a group truck with a carry can since it doesn’t seem like there’s any of them out anymore. Is this an ex allied or is it transferred from another yard. I also liked the clips of 3137 at the end because I believe I filmed that one a while back running some recycling town house

That’s cool, but stinks he’s never let you film. Definitely interesting that this one is a carry can as opposed to the standard Curotto. This one has always been Groot, it was transferred from West Chicago when they made that shop a transfer and container storage only site. I remember your video of 3137 too, I filmed it on recycle as well

They use the carry cans for yard waste in Aurora as well. I miss seeing them more though! Quick question. How do the yard waste carts work like what is the monthly cost? Great video!🤙

That’s cool! The yard waste cart subscription program ranges from $12-$17, depending on what size cart you have.

Which yard is this out of? We used to have quite a few of these in the Elk Grove yard but I’m sure they retired them by now.

As Nate mentioned, this one is out of Elgin. I do believe EGV has a couple of these Mack LE’s left, outfitted with Curottos and used as spares.

No republic sold the shop to Groot through an asset swap. They have definitely lost a lot since the BFI days though

@@MidwestTrashTrucks tell me about it back in the day i had like 2 interviews with them when they were gonna start doing recycle i never heard back trying to remember where the yard was think it was someplace of ST charles rd unless they moved long time ago back in the 80's before MRF transfer places were around ended up working at lombard for couple summers we used to dump at green valley and E&E landfill off route 53 i think think it was bloomingdale where the dump was
