great to see these fights uploaded for posterity. the staredown before the fight made me smile. kamen was trying to look like a mean badass but roufus had an expression of total indifference. fantastic

It’s a shame that Muay Thai has overshadowed American full contact. This crafty style with side kicks, boxing footwork, question mark kicks and an emphasis on speed over power is all but lost in the US. It’s a beautiful and technical display of the effectiveness of the fusion of Karate and Boxing.

@@chitownmo muay thai is ugly... but it is more effective. thye got 8 weapons while kickboxing uses 4..the low kick it self changes the game a lot

aside from Roufous (who made extensive modifications and adaptations to his style after the kitsongrit fight) American Full Contact "kickboxing" bouts were really just 2 men engaging in full contact karate/tkd matches. This style was not well rounded as evidenced by roufous complete dismantling at the hands of kitsongrit. the European styles featured strong use of leg kicks too which was anathema to traditional karate and TKD styles.

Super technique de Full Contact , quel gâchis qui soit aller en kick boxing , qu’il est changé temps de catégorie , si il je serais resté dans sa catégorie et dans sa discipline il aurait été invaincu , et il aurait pu faire des stages dans le monde entier plus tard , dommage il n’a pas su gérer sa carrière .

And nowadays this style It is almost disapeard and It is very beautiful fighting style in my city some years ago there were plenty full Contact teacher and practitioners nowadays there are no gyms that teach full contact. It is a Pity i wish full Contact recovered his popularity.

the jet was busy in 1994 he fought hoost too and lost 7 months after this fight and go look just how much more built and slower he was 7 months later I mean you can really tell he was juiced up. He looked so much better and faster in this fight and then 7 months later was way more built and had no bounce and slow kicks.

Jason Voorhees he didnt have a bodybuilders body. you can get that bulky from natural weight and power training without steroids

American Full Contact maybe adapted in some repertoire of modern kickboxing with mixture of Muay Thai and other styles of kickboxing.

original full contact had no low kicks until it got crushed by muay thai. old american kickboxing still very more good looking than modern kickboxing/muay thai it was much more pretty, looked like a fighting dance.

he was hurt by the 1st weaker left when he walked into the finishing left. He actually did the right thing in the moment. he was too close to back out and evade Roufous chasing him down with strikes after the 1st left do the correct boxing move then is to quickly dash in thus stifling any flurries of punches Roufous might be throwing and try to get a clinch on him until he stops seeing stars. but Roufous has been in a few fights and was able to instantly see that he hurt rob with the first one thus he was able to quickly decide to slip robs clinch using the slip to load up the finishing left, and it worked.

Yes, i guarantee it would have been a completely different outcome with muaythai rules, low kicks, knees, etc...sorry i know this is another discipline but it just doesnt look complete with a lot of the arsenal in full contact fighting taken away.

Proof that, in spite of his defeat to Chamgpuek - which so many KZfaq Thai fanboys love to turn to - Roufus was a beast. Beat Kaman, of all people, who was notorious for beating the Thais.

One indicator of taking steroids is losing hair. If you look at 10:55 both fighters tend to not have a full hairline. However, i'm not saying they roided up for sure, but there are some thin hints

Waylon Norris what ever you think buddy. I'm just using my right of free speech. Further on i read scientifique essays, books and so on about the dark figure of steroid abuse in sport. This gets supportet by the fact that back in the time there were less drug testings. However i said, it's justs hints...

It’s because of its boxing routes. No attacks below belt line. This is a mix of western boxing and karate. Cool blend but a lil odd.

Shame Roufus is most known for the loss to Kiatsongrit when here he utterly clowns on Kaman of all people. No low kicks doesn't excuse a champ looking like a chump.
