Neil Melanson, The Ground Marshal, explores in this episode , countering the frame by utilizing misdirection. He covers a technique called ‘belly down float’ where he leverage the misdirection he creates in order to finish the attack.
Coach Neil also covers some important topics when it comes to the ground game such as the management of space between, you and your opponent, and, simple but smart, tricks to keep control when executing these kinds of techniques.
#GroundMarshal #bjjtips #teamhayabusa
At the end, he shows a couple variations that are quite mean - you should check it out.
Now, go try this technique, and let us know how it goes down for you.
The greats never stop learning.

Appreciate the Marshal's advice on being mindful of separating your partner's AC joint... "It's not too painful to recover from... as long as you don't need surgery". Great videos.

i really hate knee-on-belly. but a simple escape that was taught to me was. you need to bridge en right after hip escape, and keep one hand on the knee and the other on his lower belly/hip

Nice Neil. I was watching a video about catching this as your partner tries to frame across your throat but I don't think you would catch a good guy so easily without a better set up like you show. As you say, simple effective stuff gets forgotten and overlooked when people get attracted to more "impressive" looking techniques. I roll in a gi but I find that guys with a wrestling background give me trouble because they move at a faster pace, react more quickly than the rest of us or else make things happen the way you are showing here. I'll be trying this tonight if I get to the right spot.

This is absolutely something that Neil taught/teaches with regularity, and I know because I regularly roll with people whose first coach was Neil and they all do this. You literally cannot every fight that leg with your outside hand without simultaneously shrimping downwards. You have you move - bridge, roll, etc. If you do only one motion here they will catch your arm every time and it's the worst.

Great video as always. Lot's of small details. Just one request. When you're showing old Catch wrestling techniques and maneuvers at least mention that they originate from Catch wrestling. Not only will it help to get the word out to the young guys out there who are not familiar with the art, but it also helps avoid the perception that you're just stealing old techniques without proper credits. Thank for all the great stuff you've put out there, and really appreciate your super detailed commentary on these techniques. Bless you.

why doesn't he just rotate to release the pressure . .the reason most people go to mount is because they want to cross to the other side so the guy on bottom can rotate to realive pressure
