"Ground plane" high-speed maglev, connecting China's five major first-tier cities

China's high-speed maglev plan will drastically reduce travel time between the country's five major cities. With trains traveling up to 600 km/h, trips like Beijing to Guangzhou could reduce to 3.3 hours, rivaling air travel when you consider check-in and wait times. The country already has three maglev railways in operation, but their speeds are significantly lower. The Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong corridor, considered to be the most saturate passenger axis is likely to be the first to undergo development. This high-speed maglev network signifies a massive leap in China's transport infrastructure.

From an economic viewpoint, China's second-generation maglev (magnetic levitation) trains with a test speed of 600 km/hour (and perhaps even a bit faster in future testing) and proven technology plus a solid track-record on safety may be a better bet. No doubt, a traveller on the 600 km/hour second-generation maglev high-speed train would arrive to his/her destination earlier and fresher than one taking the airplane, taking into account the hassles of going to the airport (which nowadays is at least 30-50 km from the city center and more than an hour of driving, even by taxi) and baggage checking and filling forms, among many others. It surprises everyone when China seems not very satisfied with this achievement as the country is experimenting with the 1,000 km/hour hyperloop system.

Hello, why you guys used many clips of Japanese Shinkansen in Chinese Maglev video. Better to use all Chinese train models. I am so sorry and angry to see these. The Chinese HSR trains models are beautiful.

Look, the current Chinese High-speed Rail industry is in severe financial straits, due to shoddy contruction of the infrastructure, poor route planning (numerous trains running to the middle of no-where), and a proliferation of unprofitable routes! But it's not failing because the current trains just aren't fast ENOUGH!

Jetliners emit tons of pollution, such as CO2, also toxic particulate that gets frozen and suspended in the atmosphere. This contributes to Global Warming.
