The Sotiganj scrap market of Meerut, one of India's largest scrap markets, has been completely closed. Sotiganj is infamous for buying and selling of stolen vehicles. More than 1,000 people working in more than 400 shops of Sotiganj are now facing a livelihood crisis. Local traders say those who defame the market are in jail, but those who are doing the right thing are also being dragged into it.

All scrap dealers should keep a record of relevant information of cars they dismantled.... And authorities must verify the same too...

These scrap dealers are expert in dis-assembling entire car and bike in 30 minutes. That's why recovery of stolen vehicle becomes so difficult. Saale chor sab k sab. Stealing is strongly prohibited in Islam. How are they wearing skullcap and beard?

Similar kind of market is also in Kolkata but because of few events of theft some 10-15 years ago it's reputation is stained till now. I thinks shutting the entire market for few such incidents is wrong and just a political move.

Ask a local resident of meerut ,they will tell what sotiganj is , it's hilarious when people living 1000 km from meerut comment on it , that also based on a video that gives opinions kf 5 or 6 people.
