UK, this time last year
Case numbers now are more than 30 times higher
20 August 2021, 37,314
20 August, 2020, 1,182
Most positive cases year, a person with a cough, fever or loss of sense of smell or taste
Now increased testing for events and trips, picking up more asymptomatics
Hospitalisations and deaths also higher than one year ago
Prof Paul Hunter, University of East Anglia
It wouldn't matter a jot if Covid caused a million cases a month if it didn't make anybody sick.
It's the actual illnesses which have to drive what we do next
They sort of levelled off but are drifting up again and they're drifting up in summer when viruses spread less readily
There is concern about what will happen in the autumn
A higher base number heading into Autumn
Nearing endemic equilibrium - the point where cases are neither increasing nor falling.
I'm very confident that we're not going to see anything like the amount of disease we saw last time round, in the autumn

The Journal of Infection is a monthly peer-reviewed medical journal in the field of infectious disease, covering microbiology, epidemiology and clinical practice published since 1979. It is the official Journal of the British Infection Association. On August 9, 2021 the Journal released a report titled *Infection-enhancing anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies recognize both the original Wuhan/D614G strain and Delta variants. A potential risk for mass vaccination?* Here is an excerpt from that report: Current Covid-19 vaccines (either mRNA or viral vectors) are based on the original Wuhan spike sequence. Inasmuch as neutralizing antibodies overwhelm facilitating antibodies, ADE(antibody dependent enhancement) is not a concern. However, the emergence of SARS-CoV-2 variants may tip the scales in favor of infection enhancement. Our structural and modeling data suggest that it might be indeed the case for Delta variants. In conclusion, ADE may occur in people receiving vaccines based on the original Wuhan strain spike sequence (either mRNA or viral vectors) and then exposed to a Delta variant. Although this potential risk has been cleverly anticipated before the massive use of Covid-19 vaccines, the ability of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies to mediate infection enhancement in vivo has never been formally demonstrated. However, although the results obtained so far have been rather reassuring, to the best of our knowledge ADE of Delta variants has not been specifically assessed. Since our data indicate that Delta variants are especially well recognized by infection enhancing antibodies targeting the NTD, the possibility of ADE should be further investigated as it may represent a potential risk for mass vaccination during the current Delta variant pandemic. In this respect, second generation vaccines with spike protein formulations lacking structurally-conserved ADE-related epitopes should be considered.

I'm puzzled as to why there is still ANY consideration of numbers of cases when what is most significant and important is no. of deaths and hospitalisations and always has been. No. of cases goes up with no. of tests as well as level of spread so is never a reliable figure, and not even that important. What is most significant is pressure on hospitals and people dying however many 'cases' there are (which again is measured by 'positive tests' rather than actual illness) so why any consideration of cases given it's irrelevance and inaccuracy?

@@jenster1190 in Sweden they test people with any kind of symptom ONLY... and that gives you really helpful important data, exactly what you are talking about. But, if you are testing randomly or testing all contact traced people you are getting bloated skewed data. Thats been happening in UK, EU, AUS, NZ and USA. How often do you see real detailed break down of data of all total cases ?? NOT AT ALL, barely any, just basics, how many are in hospital, in ICU or died and age. It would be great to see full analysis of all cases by age and gender in symptomatic group, how many ended up in hospital, ICU, died, recovered then same for asymptomatic group then vaccinated, unvaccinated etc. I don't remember seeing that kind of data available to public anywhere
@lucillasallabank
@lucillasallabank 3 жыл бұрын
You are puzzled? 1) Hospitalisations aren't low and the NHS already has a long waiting list. Allowing more people to be hospitalized will make those waiting lists even longer. 2)Hundreds of people are dying of Covid every week in the UK. What is an acceptable number of deaths for you, before the government decides to reinstate some mitigations? 50 a day? 100 a day? 500 a day? 3) Half a million people are currently suffering the disabling effects of Long Covid, including children. The more cases there are, the more long Covid there will be. 4) Letting the pandemic rip through also increases the possibility of fitter, vaccine resistant variants developing. Hope you are no longer puzzled.

@@markusmaximus6636 I'm going to go QUITE that far into the realm of speculation not backed up by any hard data of facts but .... I would say two things: 1. There is a reason why no serological survey anywhere has found an antibody presence > 25% . ITs because T-Cell immunity that serological tests don't test for is the dominant form of immunity. You can't calculate herd immunity properly w\o testing for BOTH. So this study is still largely useless. 2. Based on those Sera studies plus testing for T-Cells and research in that areas, it seems likely that roughly 65-70% of the gen pop are already naturally immune. It should be relatively easy to actually test and prove this theory w\o actually doing widespread T-Cell immunity testing ...

@@richardlefaive1944 well you don't need a study to tell you that people get antibodies after being infected. That always happens. People have been having antibody tests for the last 18 months. This study is specifically to see what happens when vaccinated people then get infected and compare with non vaccinated people. It will help determine whether boosters will be needed or not, and whether allowing people to be exposed to the virus after vaccination is the right course of action.

Mr Campbell, don't make me go through your videos and find quotes where you said "people who get vaccinated will have broad comprehensive immunity responses to the virus". Only NOW are you telling the truth about this vaccine; that it is singularly focused on just the s-spike protein which will render people dependent on future boosters to deal with variance in that spike protein. Why haven't you been saying that "natural immunity provides a more broad and comprehensive immunity response to the virus", rather than touting how great the vaccines are this whole time? You always seem to keep yourself distant from the truth on the ground only to tout what is temporally popular - and then report on the *reality* (of things you "missed") after the fact. What you may not realize is that we the listeners have memory too.

My concern about vaccination after recovery is that unvaccinated covid-recovered individuals have antibodies against all 28 markers of the virus but the vaccinated covid-recovered individuals are found to only have antibodies against the spike protein. So if the vaccine appears to be neutralizing the other 27 markers of the virus, isn’t this an inferior type of protection?

No, vaccination plus infection is best. Immunity wanes and vaccination will still help. What happens if you don't get infection again for a year? The point is that the more frequently you encounter the virus the better the immunity, one encounter with the virus is not enough. Vaccination is a safe way of achieving this. And there's no harm in getting it especially since it is free. But you'll probably only need a single one. Up to you though.

We will reach herd immunity after enough vaccinated people have sub-clinical (asymptomatic) infections and develop the much needed nasal antibodies as well as the internal antibodies. The vaccines give people the chance to be infected "safely" and then develop both types of antibodies and lots of memory cells. At that point the pandemic will shrivel up and we will only see sporadic break-thru cases. It will be a two step process that takes several seasons. None of the scientists have explained it that way because they don't think people will understand, but that is what is happening. I am a retired pharmacist.

Dr. Fauci is speaking about oral therapies. Merck is introducing molnupiravir, which blocks the virus by lethal mutagenesis (if it gets emergency authorization). @@robklein583 I hope this is right. I've read that these vaccines may diminish natural immune response to subsequent infection precisely because they are targeted at one virus protein only. That they may weaken the other immune responses that we would normally have. They are not neutralising vaccines. This could leave us with less defence against new variants with altered spike protein. This is what has so many vaccinologists, immunologists and other doctors so worried - albeit they are being savaged for voicing their concerns. The intention appears to be to continually tweak the vaccines for new variants but, aside from potential cumulative side effects from repeated vaccination, there is simply no way on earth that we could repeatedly vaccinate 7 billion people to get ahead of variant spread. This could lead us down into a spiral to fully vaccine resistant covid. This is the apalling vista that nobody in the 'mainstream' is prepared to discuss.

How exactly are you distinguishing between positive PCR testing and 'infection'? These are not interchangeable terms. It is difficult to have an asymptomatic infection. Either your immune system is or isn't fighting something turning you into a food supply for reproduction (bacterial) or replication (viral). But presence, positivity, and infection are important distinctions with a difference.

I think another angle that makes sense to look at is to track the statistical occurrence of false positives and false negatives generated by using the PCR tests as I understand it if enough cycles are ran eventually you will get a positive result. it would seem like our data is incomplete and thus inaccurate. Creating a strict control group in this regard could help us better understand the occurrence of perceived asymptomatic spread of infection. But that's what FDA approvals are for right?

@@jeffbrunton3291 More importantly, what conclusions can be drawn from tests that go to 45 cycles, like testing in the UK uses? Do they indicate an infection that is viable and can be transmitted to another person? My research says that the high numbers of Ct cycles will simply give a positive result when the person who gave the sample for the test isn't contagious at all. In short, the UK using 45 cycles for PR testing is guaranteeing that the number of cases is on the rise when it isn't. And the deaths need to be compared to a normal flu season instead of continually showing all the IU beds are full (this is because the medical industry isn't building enough ICU beds, since they are expensive and normally sit empty when all is well).

Thank you for advising your audience about the CoV-2 antibody studies in the UK. I recently had my primary physician test me for post-vaccine antibodies since I have mild immunosuppression from autoimmune disease treatment. He inadvertently tested me with the ARUP QUALITATIVE test for CoV-2 antibodies to the nucleocapsid protein. My doctor then ordered the ARUP SEMI-QUANTITATIVE test for spike protein as he originally intended. I also followed up with my Rheumatologist during this period who advised me that the initial test appears to detect prior infection & NOT immune response to vaccination. I was quite surprised, but I’m happy to now have this important additional information. I subsequently sent an email to ARUP to confirm the meaning of the test results since my primary doctor appears to not understand that the two tests measure antibodies to two different antigens. The ARUP response is pending. Thanks again.

Well, apparently you and I are functioning in the wrong order. We needed to get two shots for a disease we didn't have, have those two shots fail to stop disease, catch the disease and have a super strong immunity based on two failed shots and THEN a natural infection. Sort of like we skipped from A to Z and skipped the B and the S in the middle. *Editing to add that I very much respect Dr. Campbell's research and presentation in these videos. He's one of the few physician's to not reject natural immunity as an actual outcome of infection.

You’re not listening to Dr. Campbell. He clearly says, multiple time over many different videos- those who are vaccinated first, and then get exposed to Delta are in the best position. People who get sick from Delta but aren’t vaccinated still don’t have the same T level response as the vaccinated, so they still need to get vaccinated. That includes you.

The symptoms thing is a nuisance at this time of the year. I am allergic to Ragweed and it's heavy this year so it gives me sore roof of mouth, runny nose, cough. So I have to check the other symptoms (temperature, headache, smell). One key is itchy eyes - if I have itchy eyes, then it's ragweed. I also can be very tired and have sore muscles because I do weights and running or tennis daily. So I'm frequently sore in some part of my body on a regular basis. I will be happy when this is over.
