Groundhog Day 2024 Prediction: Punxsutawney Phil does NOT see his shadow

Punxsutawney Phil has emerged from his burrow to forecast there will be an early spring. The spectacle that is Groundhog Day at Gobbler’s Knob in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania took place as usual. The prognosticator of prognosticators emerged at dawn on Friday. Members of his inner circle revealed he had not seen his shadow, which is rare, indicating spring will come early.

I just read an article that said he is kept in a zoo and they don’t even let him hibernate by keeping it the same temperature and light on at all times to profit off him the most from people coming year-round. You should look into it. It’s actually pretty cruel.

For those that don't know, this event is completely free to get into. You will need to be there about 5 hours ahead of time. You can ride free shuttles to the event as well. Make sure you wear good boots because it's almost always muddy and be sure to dress warmly.

Out of 128 predictions he's only predicted an early spring 20 times. 1 times war clouds got in the way. It's El Nino this year which means mild winter for most of the states, but up north north you could still get a blizzard.

The town is invested heavily. It is a fascinating place to visit. Located throughout town, the Phantastic Phils! public art projects include 41 larger-than-life fiberglass groundhogs, all creatively painted and designed by local and national artists. Visitors can see how many they spot on their own or can grab a map of the Phils and pick their favorite.

The first time I heard about this tradition was back in 2015. I was an exchange student from Brazil living in Indiana, PA for 2 semesters. That's when I heard about the movie Groundhog Day and the city of Punxsutawney, 30 minutes far from Indiana. From that year forward, I watch Phil's prediction every February 2nd!

Punxsutawney Phil has in fact never been wrong, especially here in Sweden. And indeed we're getting an early spring, it went from -18c to +8c after Phils predictions, he actually never gets it wrong.
