What I learned from all these group project stories is that while you can try to work with people, keep a solo made project on the side to appeal to your teacher with lol

The worst college group project I've ever had was a psychology class project where I ended up doing ALL of the work, because neither of my partners were willing to do anything towards the project. I was the one who had to contact the specialist that we would be interviewing, and I was the one who came up with the questions to ask her (I was also the one to email those questions to her). I then made the PowerPoint presentation and wrote an APA paper on both "our" findings, and the methods which could be employed to bring parents, teachers, and psychologists together regarding their child's educational needs above and beyond what the law currently requires. When it came to the presentation, I was perfectly happy with answering questions from the professor and other classmates in order to show that I knew what I was talking about. The other two just acted like deer caught in the headlights. Yet because it was a group assignment, and despite the fact that I informed the professor of the fact that I had done all of the work, they were still awarded an A for the assignment. On a side note, I actually know someone named Butch, although he's never been the lazy sort himself. xD

Group projects are only good if you are with people who you can trust and know what they are doing. For me, I was in one group project with someone I could not trust and ended up doing the project myself. Guess what, he got a 0 and I got an 80% mark!

Hey Chilly, Great vid'... AND CON-GRADUATIONS!!! (lolz) My hat is off... YOU have SOOOOOOoooo much more patience than I... See, I had something similar as a group project, but what my "animated millstones" didn't know was that I held a reasonably high grade, so I could afford "taking a hit"... AND getting stuck with most of the work while not allowed to contribute useful ideas, I decided to simply put THE ENTIRE AND ABSOLUTE FACTS in the report... Thus, crashing the project in a colossal nosedive and burn. It sucked having to throw "all-nighters" into a "solo-project" as I just followed through on my own. I followed the project requirements to the letter, only since I did everything from concept to application, I signed my name and that was it... It was my "back up plan" and no... The instructor wouldn't take a "solo-work"... even for partial credit. Part of the point was to work as a group... Meh... I shrugged it off, and flatout explained that regardless of group or no, I was not about to lie and cover up for a grade... The rest of the group was completely ballistic... BUT it was the last time in that class, that any group "rode a single member" for success instead of authentically working for the grade. There was a class-wide "counseling session" (sermon) about the matter, and we were "made examples of" for the rest to learn. That was humiliating, but I can't say I'm sorry I did it... In any case, I certainly respect your perseverance and sense of duty. That can't have been healthy or fun. Yet, in case you wondered what else could happen... I thought you might enjoy this... eh... for whatever it's worth. ;o)

My personal experience in Group Project Hell: *We were allowed to pick our groups* My best friend, we’ll call her Em, and I immediately knew we wanted to work together. We have different ways of thinking but we know how to work together. But we still need a third member... This girl, call her Lyla, who is my ex friend (we just grew apart after she started acting jealous of me), joins our group because Em and I kinda felt bad that literally no other group wanted her. She tries to contribute but it becomes painfully clear that she just doesn’t “click” with Em and I. You could tell she felt intimidated by Em and I because Em is a very outspoken person who takes charge and I’m usually the one who unintentionally ends up doing the most work because I have a decent work ethic and a lot of downtime I can spare to work on projects so I can do the most. Lyla tries to take control and assign roles and (I’m assuming) to compete with me, she gives herself the most work. Em and I comply though we both know we’ll need to help her later. One week later, I’m done with my written work and I ask the others when they’ll be done so we can work on putting together the visual board that all the information goes on. Em is halfway done and I offer to help her, together we finish in two days. We offer to help Lyla, who claims she’s almost done (though she’s been saying that for three days now). She gets annoyed for some reason and refuses to talk to us. Em tries to reason with her and says that what she’s doing is petty. Lyla snaps. I try to intervene but Lyla interprets as me taking Em’s side (and we used to be close friends so that’s probably why it stung) and completely blocks herself off from us. We let her have her space for two days. (Project due in nine days) She finally finishes and we arrange a date to put together the board. (Due in three days) We decide on working at Em’s house. I come directly from a doctor’s appointment so I leave it to the other two to get sorted and I’ll just arrive maybe twenty minutes later. So I finish my appointment, and look at my phone. There’s seven missed calls from Em. Uh oh. There’s also a stream of texts that says something along the lines of “She did the wrong part. She f*cking did the wrong part.” And “please tell me you’re getting here soon imma bouta kill her” Well luckily everyone’s alive when I arrive by both of my groupmates are arguing/freaking out. Lyla did Em’s part by accident even though she was the one who literally wrote out who would do what on a sheet of paper (which Em has as proof that she did the right part). She tells Lyla that she should be the one to do the undone part of the project because she’s the one who screwed up. Lyla gets frustrated and tries to argue that Em should do it because she spent more time on it but we looked back at the information the each had and noticed that Em’s was... more thorough and made more sense, to put it lightly. I tell Lyla that we’ll help her and that we can all do it now quickly and then work on the board but she is stubborn and refuses our help and stares at a blank google doc for the next ten minutes until Em and I start printing our work to cut and paste. Lyla gets the idea and starts working but takes forever. We leave for the night with Lyla only having an introduction done. The day before the due date, Lyla finishes and we all scramble to get everything together. We can’t meet because Lyla has glee club and I have newspaper club. Em also has a GSA meeting but she is able to skip because they aren’t doing much. Lyla sends Em her document so Em can put it on the board. She sends us a picture of the finished board and I say it’s great. We are scheduled to present the next day. On that day, we all come prepared (we think) until Lyla notices as the group before is is presenting that her part of the project has been edited by Em. The revisions are subtle and insignificant but Lyla gets annoyed and the two start “whisper fighting” a minute before we perform. Oh, you have got to be kidding me. We get called up and they finally stop. We don’t choke but it definitely was not as great as we were hoping. Luckily, the group right before us completely choked (I saw one of them literally tape a scrap of paper with illegible information on it to the board as they were setting up) so the grades for us were generally higher than theirs. We got away with a 96 and presumably after the teacher reads the written reflections about how the groups worked, he decided to pick the groups for the next project.

I'm in a group project right now. Ten minutes tomorrow to get it done, about an hour of things left to do.

I hate the projects when someone gets idea and ppl choose it and doesnt choose better ideas i have!! ITS JUST NOT FAIR WHEN NO ONE LISTENED TO ME AND TOOK BAD IDEAS AND WE FAIL BECAUSE THEM AND THEY ARE LIKE "yeah.. nice job.. you did nothing.." and i was the one with better idea..

Since I have my own nightmare with group projects, this is really relatable. One time, i had to right a paper that was supposed to be around 5 pages long. You know what my team did? They completely left me to work on it all alone and even was saying that i was taking too long when they didn't even try to help! They even tried to convince the teacher that i didn't help in any way possible. Thankfully, i had the texts and screenshots to say otherwise. You are amazing chilly and i hope those guys got some karma.
