This is a step by step how to guide to grout like a pro. Here’s a few notes to be aware of…
-as always, read the instructions on the bag
-cool, clean water when mixing grout
-grout a small test area to determine how much working time you have with the grout
-DO NOT use an excess of water, wring your sponge out thoroughly when wiping
Hope this video helps. If you’d like to see more content like this please like and subscribe and let us know in the comments what topic we should tackle next, cheers!

Great tutorial, I would suggest you tell people to always review the directions on the bag as well. You can always find some important info about dry time and pot life. Telling people about ambient conditions and to never wait too long before washing was some really good advice, get the feel for the grout before going full out.

nice job, was a tile finisher/helper for 7 years before getting "turned out as a setter" and grouted many a floor. I always say use the sponge and keep it loaded during the first wash to fill any voids to keep from washing out the joint. yes you can go with the grout joints pretty much always, but the 45 for the final final and one swipe per side, change that water often so you are not putting dirty water back on the floor which makes grout haze and more work. a properly final wash leaves very little haze to wipe up with micro fiber. definitely impressed with your skills and have watched a lot of your vids. i float myself and use hydroban on remodel showers because the studs are so jacked up and backerboard would just give me a headache. very rare to rip out a shower and have flat, plumb, and square walls. i haven't tried your scratch coat technique because i don''t do hot mops even though i'm in northern california. i just don't like how the mortar bed can absorb all that water that gets underneath the tile and grout. i also don't like having to waterproof my float job then i'm screwed with tile layout like niches where i can't just add more mud to get full tile. just some ideas for future vids for you bro bro

been doing tile work full time since 1981 and you are spot on my friend, definitely the best grout video i have ever seen. your grouting and washing technics are spot on and its like im watching myself. i also use mapei FA and only mix by hand , which is terrific advise, but personally can only use a Marshalltown margin trowel, lol. . i also find the troxell red floats the best and also use the ardex/ calidad sponges, although i do slice off about 1/4 inch off the thickness, just find them slightly too thick for some reason. i also use very cool water to mix the FA grout, basically will fill up a bucket of water and leave it on the job overnight because here in florida most will have the a/c running and that water will be cooler than regular tap water. one thing i do when mixing the FA grout or sanded / unsanded i use to use, is to mix the grout up ever so slightly thicker than needed at first, this extra thickness breaks apart any lumps or inconsistencies in the powder and just makes it a bit more creamy, then i just add a few extra drops of water to slightly thin it to the final consistency right before spreading. i also do this because certain FA colors seem to thin out after the grout sits or slakes for a couple minutes and if you mixed it exactly where you want it, in 2 minutes that grout has gotten slightly thinner, so i just mix it up slightly thicker than needed and if its the color that thins after slake, its now perfect, but if it did get slightly thicker after slake, a few drops puts it to perfection. i know it now seems its not necessary to slake FA, i still do it for about 3 minutes. well done my friend!

Good instructional! One thing I like to do on my final drag is to kind of lift up the leading edge of my sponge. Seems to pick up any residual haze a little better!🤙🏼

@@Eylandertile You did really good bro! I tried to watch it as if I was someone that was going to try grouting for the first time. You covered the basics very well. Simple and not too technical. You hit all the major things to avoid and threw some helpful finishing tips as well!🤙🏼

I agree about the soup. Troweling it out in that figure 8 pattern will just have pin holes are shallow fills

Wait a hour haha. Definitely people in the know , know that would be a nightmare. Imagine with FA haha. Anyone reading this needs to know anything Calidad says about tile will be the absolute correct and best advice out there.

I use a variable mixer at low speed. Especially with Mapei Ultracolor because less air gets mixed in and i get fewer pinholes and issues with air bubbles. I always form my joints after the initial application then wait for some haze to form to begin second wipe then final wipe with the terry cloth.
