I started following Caucasian hair routines & there’s a black KZfaqr who also follows Caucasian hair routines! I love this and I was shocked that it actually works because I was under the impression that their hair routine wouldn’t work for me. I felt guilty watching white, asian, & Indian women hair routine, but not anymore because my hair is growing. 😊

I love this comment, because there are some viewers who seemed to take issue with me mentioning Caucasians in my video. Never even considered this would be an issue. Many of my staple products were recommended by white influencers (such as the living proof repair/ restore leave in that people are loving). We can all help and learn from each other. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience ❤️

@Anonyme67 "Insecure?" Lol. Not at all. I also recently started watching a white lady's hair care channel, and I've learned a lot of interesting stuff. She teaches colonial hair care, basically using homemade products-homemade shampoo/conditioner, homemade gel, etc and, surprisingly, my hair is really responding well. Less shedding, less breakage, and my hair is finally retaining moisture without even having to use moisturizing products. I don't care who I learn this stuff from-white, black, purple, green. I just wanted the knowledge of how to break my growth plateau, and I finally stumbled upon it 🤷🏽‍♀️

I used to wash and plait my hair every two weeks but I fell ill, couldn’t do my hair for two months, and my hair grew like crazy within that period. So I accidentally found out that low manipulation of hair leads to growth.

I also was sick with Shingles and couldn’t wash my hair for about 2 months in 2023 because it partially spread to the back and side of my head. My hair grew like crazy too and I was using eucalyptus oil to stop the itching. And now that I’m older I don’t feel like washing my hair every 2 weeks so most times it’s once a month cause my hair is long in the back and short in the top, a mullet type style lol.

I am not getting this constant reference of ww. Black and South Asian people have been oiling their scalp like forever. Anyway. I am not a fan of scalp oiling but I have low porisity hair and my scalp doesn’t like products like that either. Exercising is a good way to have blood flowing too.
@IannaYvonne
@IannaYvonne Ай бұрын
Hello. Thank you for watching and commenting! I personally have NEVER referenced WW on my channel before today. As I mentioned to another viewer, BW are still practicing and promoting unhealthy practices , such as using grease on the scalp. I see this very often. Especially here on KZfaq by hair “influencers” who should know better. Grease is NEVER promoted in the Caucasian community ( even though most grease is owned/manufactured by Caucasians ironically). The point is we can all learn from each other. Race was not the point of the video. For those offended, feel free to replace Caucasian with “south Asian” lol. Also long as the message is received. And yes, exercise is also a great way to increase blood flow throughout the body. Excellent point. Thanks for sharing.

I’ve always known oiling the scalp to be a common thing in the aa community. I watched my mom do it my whole life. I don’t like the ww reference but it’s more so because people in our community keep referencing them as if they have it all together and we don’t do anything right. And we need to copy them in order to be right. It’s much better to just say “oiling scalp is beneficial because xyz” rather than say the ww have it figured out. It triggers a trauma response because of history and knowing that’s exactly how many of them feel about us.

My hair is not quite as long as yours- it's mid back, but all I do is--relax it every 2 months, wash every two weeks. I brush thoroughly everyday with a paddle brush (stopped using a comb), I deep condition every two weeks, blow dry it straight with a comb attachment (very important, don't blow it dry with a paddle brush) then pin it up at night- I don't even use a scarf, and it grows just fine. But I am going to try oiling my scalp as you suggest!

I believe it comes down to hair type not race. It’s a science this is why cosmetologist are great people to talk to. Not everything works for everyone. Grease has worked for my relaxed hair and oils works for my natural hair. I don’t follow what a particular race uses for their hair, skin or body. I use what has worked for me even experimenting with natural oils, raw shea etc. For instance everyone glories Coconut and its wonders on hair skin and food. The only thing coconut wise that works for me is coconut water when I drink it. It burns my scalp and itches my skin. I don’t like it in my food either. I was relaxed for a decade and DAX grease did wonders for my hair. No issues. My mama used her hands to wash and stimulate my head with my relaxer and it grew with no issues. When I transitioned I did a big chop and had 3 different cosmetologists tell me the same thing to grow long and healthy hair. The oil was a contributor, but for me it was the foods that I ate, shampoo, conditioner and water that helped with my healthy hair and yes it grew. For me it’s never about a race when it comes to things like this. It’s about science, knowing your body and what you put into it.
@IannaYvonne
@IannaYvonne Ай бұрын
Hello. Thank you for watching ❤️I completely agree with you. This video was never about race. I only mention “ Caucasians” because they DO NOT use or promote the use of grease. There is now plenty research and evidence showing it is harmful to the scalp. I don’t know any educated/ licensed cosmetologist, trichologist or dermatologist promoting the use of grease on the scalp. Just because it’s not hurting you doesn’t mean it is helping. Grease as a sealant/ protectant on the hair strand is great. On the scalp… natural oils are the way to go.
@veelachicamua6648
@veelachicamua6648 Ай бұрын
@@IannaYvonne you said it - how it being applied. It was always applied to my hair not scalp. This was my mamas technique. When i transitioned to natural I consulted with cosmetologists but I never stated what they said and to add they did not mention grease. I think your comment about white women sounded off in this comment section and everyone is commenting on a race they follow for hair techniques. A race should not predict what is right or wrong. Science does that.

This would be the perfect product for my wife. She is Asian but spent 20 years out of her country and her hair health was destroyed with all the different chemicals, dry heat and life stressors in the US. Her hair started thinning and breaking a few months after we moved to El Paso Texas where I was stationed. And it has continued to have her depressed every time she brushes her hair in the 10 years since it started. I went to the website but found that they cannot calculate the shipping over here to the Philippines and my mail forwarding service would charge no less than $100 to forward a package unless it was all letter mail. Is there a way to order this through Amazon? I searched but did not find it on there, but just asking anyway. I did buy all the ingredients to make it but not sure if there are specific measurements or if they add distilled water or anything else. Love that hair, and truly love how flawless your skin looks... I see commercials in your future.

I’m trying to figure out why grease isn’t important? This is what our mothers used to grow our hair as little girls! I still use grease on scalp and my hair is almost tailbone length

My mother too .., Royal Crown,Now I’m over it! She has a video on what grease does to your scalp you should look it up. This isn’t a debate. If you like grease,use it and have a great day.!
@IannaYvonne
@IannaYvonne Ай бұрын
Hello. I also used grease as a child. However as I grew and did more research on hair care, I learn that grease on the scalp is , at best is providing no scalp benefit. At worst, it’s making your scalp health worse. Petroleum is a barrier. The skin cannot absorb petroleum. So all the “amazing ingredients” your grease claims to have are forever stuck in the petroleum base and unable to be absorb on the scalp. Petroleum can also lead to inflammation of the scalp, and worsen dandruff. If you have dry scalp… again your body cannot absorb petroleum…. So it’s provided no moisturizing benefits. On the other hand, all natural hair oils are derived from plants and treat your scalp conditions. Tea tree oil has antifungal properties and can treat dandruff. Coconut oil is small enough to penetrate the hair shaft and can help the hair retain moisture. Argan oil is very nourishing and promotes healing. because these are natural oils and derived from plants, our skin/scalp can absorb them and actually utilize them for healing. I have many videos explaining this on my channel. my purpose here on KZfaq is to make people aware so that they can then do their own research and find a better way. It’s likely that the grease your using is not hurt or HELPING you. Compare it to rubbing dirt in your scalp every morning and saying “ but my hair is tailbone length”. It’s wasn’t the dirt… just like it isn’t the grease that caused this. Just because we’ve always done something doesn’t mean it’s the right way to do it. Please research this. thanks so much for watching. Hope that information helped ❤️

Hi Ianna Love your tips! They have helped my hair about 3” inches away from my bra strap (back)…can you share what to do with losing strands? Like, I can brush my hair and then run my fingers down my hair and hair (long strands) are in my fingers. Is that normal? Thank you for your response/advice.
@IannaYvonne
@IannaYvonne Ай бұрын
Hello! Thank you for watching❤️ some hair shedding/ loss is normal and occurs daily. It’s believed that most people lose about 50 strands a day. Some a bit more or less. If you are practicing low manipulation and not combing daily, it may seem like more. It’s only because you have not removed the hair that came out in the previous days ( when you did not comb). If you’re noticing more excessive hair loss I would first check with my doctor. There are a number of medical reasons for excessive hair loss. Scalp massage and multivitamins can help if the hair loss is related to a nutrient deficiency. This worked for me in the past when I was experiencing hair loss because of extremely dieting and limiting my foods too much. Hoped that helps. Reach out if you have any other questions

Hello! Thank you for watching ❤️I also have hoshimotos disease. I discussed it in one of my vlogs but honestly it’s affected my hair very little. My hairline has always been a bit more sparse than the rest of my hair. When I consistently apply rosemary to my edges and do daily massage it looks much fuller. But it’s a lot of effort and unfortunately I get lazy 😩😆 I’m hoping the Unlay edge is the answer so I dont have to constantly mix my oils. We’ll see.

It is not that serious. Ppl are doing too much in these comments, they act like you said “ww *created* this routine!” 🙄 I understand triggers but if EVERYTHING triggers you then you need to work on yourself and spend less time online as well smh! Anyways, I looked up the spray and it says that it also detangles, do you use it for that or just on your scalp? Also, I think you said you massage your hair when it’s styled, but not every style right? Kuz it could ruin a bun, etc. And last question, what do you use to deep condition?
@IannaYvonne

😆 ❤️ Thanks so much for watching! As for detangling, I can say that Unlay softens the hair and adds enough slick to make detangling much easier. If your hair gets very tangled, especially after washing, you may need additional detangling products. I use the moroccan oil hydrating conditioner. Absolutely love the entire line lol. Also, I will skip if in a professionally styled bun. The massage will have to wait until I take the bun out 😆

We been oiling our scalp and most hair grease have essential oils, I don’t see why you need to used a ytw as an example.
@IannaYvonne
@IannaYvonne 5 күн бұрын
Because MANY of us are still using grease. Even you still don’t understand the “essential oils” in the grease is LOST in that grease. It serves no purpose (other than to fool consumers into purchasing the product) because your scalp cannot absorb grease. So the essential oils will never make it into your scalp/ hair follicle cells to perform any function. Also ….why not mention them? We are all humans and can learn from each other. They DO NOT use grease. That was the point. Thank you for watching.❤️

@IannaYvonne Ай бұрын
Hello. Thank you and thanks so much for watching ❤️I agree with you 100%. Caucasian woman definitely learned the benefits of scalp oiling from us. My point however is that they have taken the information and are using that knowledge to promote scalp health. Too many of us in the black community are still practicing and promoting the use of hair grease on the scalp( which has been found to be harmful and worsen scalp conditions such as dandruff). I used Caucasian women as an example because I have NEVER seen 1 recommending the use of hair grease on their scalp. I realize now there was a better way to phrase that. My goal was simply to educate about the healing benefits of using all natural hair oils.

I agree! I was going to say the same thing. They got that from our community and they traditionally washed their hair every day to take out oil.
