My yard is populated with store bought potato, regrown, and now I have potato all year round. Every 10 lb bag of potato, there's usually 1 that isn't edible, and it's thrown in the yard. They sprout, and grow. Then I don't get all of them out of the ground, and another generation crops up. All year long, there's different potato plants in different phases of growth.

So, you can get potatoes within a month of planting the spouts?
@johnndavis7647
@johnndavis7647 Жыл бұрын
@@elikmr5978 it depends on the variety of potatoes. Small red and gold can be harvested in as little as 70 days Big brown potatoes take 110 days or so. When the leaves start to turn yellow is time to harvest Depending on how deep you plant the seed potato You can get sprouts In 10 days or 20. I plant the seed potato on three inches of moist soil in a bucket or bin with about four inches of soil over it. The seed potato has everything it needs to grow so I don't feed or water it until I see greenery breaking the surface. Then I mix up some potting soil with Black Kow or other balanced fertilzer and fill the bucket or bin to the top. Then I water once a week if no rain.

I would of never thought to put a little hay over them either. Great idea!! I have a few questions bc I want to start this method this year here in East Tennessee. First what brand name are those fabric pots(reason for asking is there seems to be some w more aeration than others) and 2nd question what is the name of that soil you're using from the bag? 3rd do you have the bags sitting on the ground or sitting on top of something. Thank you very much for taking time to share your hard growing work w us.
