We have had our Growatt inverter for just over 2 years and recently had a huge issue with irregular voltage coming out of the unit.
I called Signature Solar the company I purchased the inverter from for help and after two days the best I was offered was to ship it back to them for repair. They said it sounded like the power board but they no longer carried the boards so I couldn’t get one from them.
I googled the board and found watts247. I called them and within two minutes I was told it wasn’t the board and to check for a loose connection. BINGO!
If you have a Growatt inverter give this video a look so you don’t make the same mistake I did.

Had the exact same thing happened to me. Wish there was big bold letters do not loosen the second screw. And Ian helped me in 10 seconds.

Good job! The worst problem to troubleshoot is the one that you created. Thumbs up for being honest about it. I'm looking at buying one of those , so I will be careful when I hook it up

It is very important to know that when hooked to the grid, this inverter and its 6k sibling, absolutely do balance L1 and L2 all the way to the street transformer, and other than the breakers there is no protection from overloading the Growatt's internal transformer. This has been discussed in Will Prowse diy solar forum. Bet SigSolar didn't tell you that. They didn't tell me either. Ian is a great help! SigSolar ... not so much. And yeah, do not loosen both screws, it can push through!

Yes, I found that out the hard way as well when hooking up the L1 and L2. It really is a different type of set up and the instructions are truly lacking any information as far as how to properly install the inverter.

Hooked up mine yesterday and thought the same thing. I pushed the wires in deep and tightened with both screws. I imagine I pushed the other wires out of the othe end. Dang it! I guess I am taking it apart to check before I fire it up.

Update! We were able to just drop the white plastic that the wires are screwed into and fix without opening the case.

Hey, great video, this is going to be the first video in my Growatt repair playlist. I have the SPF6000T DVM and I am having the following issue. The inverter works great during the day but at night a little while after it switches to battery, lights start dimming and brightening and the fans in the house start working erratically, the speed goes up and down. When this happens, I switch it back to utility and everything works fine, but I don't get to use my battery and save any money. Any insight would be appreciated.

Have you put any surge loads on that with a 12kw+ surge? How did it do?

Looks like a lot of American are using this Low Frequency Model. Steve May I know the overall built quality of this Model? Would you still recommend viewer to buy one because I plan to purchase this specific model too.

I would say for the money it is a very good quality unit. I’ve only had a couple issues with the unit like this this issue and when my generator was outputting too high of hertz and the inverter would not accept, and rightfully so, the input power from it. But after this incident and talking to Signature Solar it sounds like there a know issues with this model after 2 years and that isn’t acceptable. I’ll continue to use this but when it is time to replace it I will spend the extra money and get better known brand that has a better support and warranty. We are off grid so this is our power plant and I hope this unit will last us another 6-8 years.

Hi Ron. I haven’t heard anything about a firmware update yet. Honestly, I’d almost be afraid to do with the luck I’ve had. Lol.

Oh my, excited to get mine going, up here in cold Canada....$500 in fuel a week for generator is unsustainable. On my third generator in 2 1/2 years. I just freeze half the time because I can't run it all the time.
