Growing a Mustache 18 the mountains.

I just couldn't resist to fly the Mustache in (to my standards) extremely turbulent air (the one landing where i almost droped out of the air). it was zero fun and not very pretty so i'll defenately stick to my "mainly flying at sun-rise or set" preference in the future. ..In the Mountains that is of course. Can't wait for the snow in the high mountains to melt away :D . I'm quite the amature when it comes to manouvers, I know but i don't wanna rush it and expect the progress to take it's time. Flare if you are reading this: I think the best thing you could do to reduce the risk of accident happening would be to allow for an easier exchange of experiences between us Mustache pilots. The wing seems so unique that I often feel alone on my journey to try out things with it. Events, Chat Groups, bringing Pilots at similar Locations together. Personally I think that would help me the most. But that being said i'd like to thank you all for working on this wing, I feel more alive than ever and hope to either one day reach it's full potential or die trying. Doing my best to avoid everything in between tho :) .

That JBL is my goto flying speaker as well! Hadnt hung it there though, gonna have to try that out

I flew the moustache 3 times in gusty spring air by now. Even turned a thermal already once. I'll move into theramling. Starting to feel comfortable with the shaking. So far, it didn't deflate to the tinyest little bit. The wing does the job like a boss. It's just the "don't fly thermal air" wing campaign that is a mind-fuck xD. Beni Bölli flew it 3.5h in thermals, as said in the online audio-talk he did. My experience so far is great. But like you, I go slowly into uncharted territory ;) Baby step by step. I didn't upload the videos yet, because I don't know whether it would be in Flare's interest. But surely pilot experience exchange helps a lot for the ease of mind. I principally find it funny how people think, 60km/h of "soaring" wind turbulences is any different to thermal air turbulences ;D I feel safer on my Moustache than on my Epsilon, and safer than on my PI, but that's just me hahahaha :D Lovely flights my friend! Thank you so much for sharing your experience :D. What gives me the best feeling about the mustache compared to my normal wing is knowing that I can fight against winds much better. A strong valley wind isn't a point of concern for me anymore since I can fly upwind easily even when it's 40km/h. And I feel a lot safer to start from mountain tops that don't allow mistakes while a decent breeze is blowing. I'm quite unsure if I'll get more used to flying in turbulent air in the future, thing is that I simply love hike and fly sunrise/set flights most so it's nothing I'm pushing much. I'm quite sure that the first thing I'll hurt myself on is hitting a tree with my wing tip. The wing is sooo big yet fast, not sure how you experience it but for me that's where I got to watch out. @@teamedup4574 Yes, I also fly the 18 and it's surely fast enough for me. I'm usually quite solid on breaks ;D. I by far didn't do all I could yet. I'm actually of the careful nature. But I had the prototype twice on the dune for a week groundhandingl it, and already there, I never wanted back to normal wings. The advantages are just too enormous. Frontal collapes are the most dangerous. Least possible to moustache, as front is extra solid. No spontaneous lift in steep terrain. Many many accidents happen like that. Moustache by miles safest for such. At optimal glide, where you would have no contact to normal wing anymore as no pressure on breaks, moustache has much pressure on breaks and you can feel the wing perfectly at all times. Lower G in turns and much faster sinkrate for longer periods possible. Also a factor of safety in air. Much better to fight vally winds, as you mentioned. Moustache always wants to fly forward, making it safe to handle in SIV, from the full stall behavior that I saw, it looked very managable, even better than casual SIV of normal wings. Lift and sink on demand is big safety in air. Air is a 3D dynamic medium. So should our wings be. Accelerated flying is safer on moustache than any other wing. There is so much advantages, and they are not just tiny ones, but solving most of the biggest problems of paragliders. My summary, from what I've seen and believe to understand, it seems one of the safest wings if not the safest ever. The flightspeed on ground is the only danger. Such as backwind starts in steep terrain, where if you won't reach fly speed, fast running and then falling on e.g. rocky terrain it can mean heavy injury. I don't want to go back to old wings. Moustache feels too good. But everyone needs to conclude that for himself ;) I'm not active on instagram. Sry.
