As l struggle to get a single bulb of calla lily , you have a bountiful collection of it. Must be a wonderful sight to see when they bloom . Very informative video. God bless you.

Thank you so much for this! I’m so glad I might be able to save my awesome black calla lilies. My heart nearly broke when I pulled it up and found a squishy bulb 😭

THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO!! Very informative and well-made. I think you did a great job and I appreciate your time and effort! I had no idea if one bulb has soft rot it can/will infect the other bulbs around it! Learn something new everyday!

I have just bought a Calla lily corm or bulb from a mail order company. I followed the instructions implicitly and was careful to pot it straight away on arrival in moist compost and in frost free temperatures in the greenhouse. After several weeks there was no sign of any shoots or root growth, having planted it with the domed bit at the top above the surface of the soil, and the root plate below of course, so I planted it a little more deeply to see if this would get it into growth, the same way I get ginger tubers going. Now I find the entire bulb/corm is just a white squidgy mass. What did I probably do wrong, or was the bulb likely a dud one that was supplied. It had no sign of either roots or shoots when it came.

Hello sir, I have bought a Calla Lily, but sad to say it was over- watered by the seller. A day after, the leaves and flowers stated to wilt and dry. What other chemicals or media can I use if I don’t that copper to save my Calla lily

I had an indoor calla Lily and it slowly dropped leaves I checked bulbs it was fine repotted them and sure enough slowly same thing. I've got plenty of potted. So I just dug Down bc I thought maybe it wants rest bc who knows when it was forced. So I pull bulbs out they're are firm white and no rot. My question is did it go dormant? It looked just like my Lillie's last year when going to bed I stored them over in it's containers. Fertilized and watered about March and omg they came back so big I mean huge. So could this be the case? It's mid July but I got it at Walmart indoors in March so I'm curious.

I need your help. I see all your calla lilies grow in an open air in the flower beds. How often they are infected by virusis ? I grow mine at home, and something strange happens...the leaves are very curly, the light green line is in the leaves...they are in stripes ... I think it is a virus...

This is so helpful. It's been a very wet spring here, and my potted callas are all falling over. I pulled them, and they are all either slightly squishy feeling (firm but a soft skin) or having small sections of rot. I don't have this dip. So I cleaned out any rot, let it dry a few hours, tipped cinnamon into the wound (works for orchids anyway!) and then dusted the entire bulb with copper containing 'Garden Dust'. Then I repotted into unglazed pots with fresh soil that I threw a few handfuls of peralite into. This is the first season I've ever had problems with these guys... we really need a spell of dry weather, lol!

Faye M. I had a beautiful white calla but in less of a month it was too gone... it died but I notice the bulb was infected with soft rot, I put some hydrogen peroxide on it's healthy parts for avoiding infections, I saved the rest of them and I'm wating to plant again :( it's so terrible my calla was so big and now I just have two little bulbs that survived the plantpocalipse... psd, I desinfected the container with chlorine and added more stones and new soil and I didn't know cinnamon work for this I will try

Hi Faye, I have a hard time with humid weather where I live too. I combat that by planting most of my plants in lava rocks that I buy for about $2 a bucket from a local landscaping company and they seem to be able to tolerate the excess water quite well in the lava rocks as opposed to planting in soil. Hope that helps.

Sounds like your treatment should work. Please let me know. And yes, too much wet weather or watering only encourages the disease to infect.

Is this soil born
@1plantwhisperer5 жыл бұрын
Hello Agusta, Erwina or Soft Rot is soil born.
@vapetlover5 жыл бұрын
I would think that spraying the infected bulb over the others would spread the bacteria.
@1plantwhisperer5 жыл бұрын
Sometimes true. But more often not. The bacteria is soil born.
