Found your channel from Arms Family Homestead. Thank you for sharing all your gardening knowledge. Do you just fertilize when you set up the barrel or throughout the season?
@brismith705 жыл бұрын
For cucumbers, the water and fertilizer in the barrel will last for the whole growing season. For other vegetables and other sized containers, you may need to refill your reservoir.

Visiting from Arm's family homestead. Would the same system work for tomatoes? Great video, I've plenty of room for barrel gardening. Thank you for this idea Leon. 😊
@brismith705 жыл бұрын
Dr. Kratky has grown tomatoes using this method. Check out his KZfaq channel or his research papers at the University of Hawaii. His KZfaq channel is dakineapproaches. Since tomatoes are a longer season crop than cucumbers, though, you will need to refill your water and fertilizer reservoir at some point or at several points.

what was the fertilizer you mixed into the water in the barrel?
@eleven9035 жыл бұрын
Oh gosh, I see that you have been sick for a while. I am hoping you are back soon. Best WOW look at the roots on that Cuc plant! haha. question for you Leon. Do you use any little friendly buggies in your garden? Any ladybugs, any fliers? I was always taught by my Father that the plants need the contact from other forms of life. In the sense of pollinating, but also for various little known or understood reasons. Just wondering what your thoughts are on that.
@revamcconnell4705 жыл бұрын
Do you add fertilizer every day or add the amount of fertilizer for the quantity of water in the barrel?
@bevrobinson95055 жыл бұрын
Watched the self wicking video on planting. My question is when do you put water in the milk containers. They were put in the bottom of the blue container then the soil was put in then the plants. When do you put water in the milk containers so it will self wick? Before the dirt or with the OFC pipe or when? Still a little confused.

Creating an optimum environment tailored to your target plant will result in fast growth and high productivity for example peppers ideal grow temps are between 20-26 degrees celcius, 14-16 hours per day of full sun, the optimum relative humidity is no lower than 50% and no higher than 70% and it requires deep loose soil which is well drained and rich in organic matter. I tried a grow tent and was absolutely amazed at the speed of growth and productivity. Want to try a green house next.
