Unless either the soil or the plant is magnesium deficient Epsom salts are a waste of time and money. I say that from personal experience, having been gardening for the last 53 years, finding this ridiculous myth does more harm than good. Tomato feed is fine, if you grow those as well (strawberries, too). Just remember to gently tap the flowers to assist pollenation or use male flowers to their opposite to manually achieve the result. The female flowers have a bulge at the top of the stem, just behind the flower. Just snap off a male flower, strip off the petals and rub the stamen gently against the female flower's centre. You'd be surprised i hand a basil plant and squash in containers that even though the holes were small they grew out of them and it kept on growing

Root strangulation does a plant no favours, as commonsense tells anybgardener that possesses it, because it restricts the uptake of nutrients and water, stunting the plant's development.
