Dear Hollis and Nancy, Although we had a garden, we didn't grow 'dry beans' when I was a kid because 'navy beans' were grown on mass by farmers and so cheap. Being from Maine, 'back in the day' I visited Johnny's Seeds in Albion many times to buy seeds. As a boy I remember helping my friend's family pull up the whole "butter bean" plants and hanging them to dry in the top of their barn. Later in the fall, when they were dried, my friend and I would thresh them, we thought for fun. My ex-wife (God bless her) was from southern Alabama and she introduced me to baked lima bean casserole. I haven't had a garden in a few years but I still buy frozen lima beans occasionally and make a casserole.

Not an exact one as I wing it, but basically It's made with lima beans, beef stock, bacon, onions, garlic and sour cream. The thing is like a beef stroganoff without the noodles, mushrooms or beef. Cook up the lima beans in some stock and sauté the bacon, onions, garlic with butter, salt and pepper, and some flour to absorb the fat. Mix together then dish up with some dollops of sour cream and bake it. @@ourfamilysvarietyshow

Last summer I grew king of pole Lima beans and summer prior bush variety of Lima beans. The pole bean plants were easily over 11’ tall used a ladder to reach some pods and the vines were hanging down a few feet by end of season. For so much plant I wasn’t impressed by the yield, compared to the bush variety. So this year I’m gonna grow both and see what works best for me in the future. My garden is about a 1/4 acre so I’ve got room to play with and try diff types of plants I see or hear about. Hope y’all have a great year and God bless from a fellow outdoorsman in Va.

I tried canning my mil’s enchilada sauce one year, but her recipe called for cornstarch. I just left that out. It was like seasoned juice. I’m not a big Mexican food fan and I never did use it and eventually dumped it. I’ve wished over the last couple of winters that I still had some. Maybe I’ll try your version. Thanks for participating in Canuary!

It would be cheaper to get a pellet rifle and you could have lima beans and rabbit for supper! Years ago I took a length of chalk line that would reach about 10' more than the length of a row. I made a loop in one end to go over a stake and every foot I tied a knot. Then I went back through with a black marker and colored each knot black. When I layed out my row, depending on what I was planting, I would put 1 seed on the knot and one seed in between. So I had straight rows and evenly spaced plants!

I always love your videos and inventions! I've been watching you for years and always look forward to the next one. That seed dropper is cool. I saw a slight modification to that design that added a depth gauge by taking a short 1x2 furring strip (about 10 or 12 inches long) and using a pipe strap and small wingnuts and bolt crossed the bottom end of the seed dropper. It is adjustable by loosening the wingnuts and slide it up or down to current need. When the furring strip sits on the ground the pipe should stick out to the proper depth. Had you seen that? I'd love to see it in action one day!

Hallelujah! Man does not live on bread alone....we need to trust in, rely on Him....Believe Him. In the coming days, and what we see is coming, hold on tight to Jesus. The Lord God will supply our every need, His Word will sustain us. And as we help our neighbors who are in need, He will multiply and give us seed to sow into others. What does Jesus tell us to do? Put the needs of others before ourselves. Just follow His example...self-less, His will was for ALL to be healed. Greater works shall you do because He goes to the Father. But He sends the Holy Spirit to live in you, and by His power, we can do all things through Christ. Be the light in a dark world. Arise saints, Our Time Has Come....Do the work Christ called you to do
