Here I share my story of growing out grey hair. My grey hair transition started when I was 36. I colored my hair last time in February 2019. Here I share the styles that helped me to grow out grey hair, and how I started growing out grey hair cold turkey, via the pixie cut.
Let's connect: juliya.yasmin
Are you growing out your grey too?
What is your story? Do you plan to go cold turkey? Or get a pixie cut? Or rock a grombre hair?

Your skin is so peachy and luminous the greys make NO difference. I think great skin with grey hair looks soo chic and aristocratic. Proud of you for overcoming all your insecurities and coming out from your journey looking gorgeous!

I , just last week, decided to start my transition to gray. I last colored my hair on July 20, 2022. I wore my hair in a pony tail on Friday to work, because I woke up to our water being turned off due to leak, so I could not wash my hair. I got several compliments on my gray hair which showed more since my hair was in a ponytail. I have an appointment on Wednesday to discuss my options with a hairdresser. I either want to add highlights or lowlights, or do ribbons of gray in my hair to transition a little quicker rather than letting it grow out on its own. My husband told me that he would be okay with me going in and coming out gray all at once. He'd love it. We shall see. I have been dying my hair, which is medium brown , for years......so many I forgot. I am really tired of dying it. I gave up using any heat products on my hair a little over a year ago. So I do not blow dry, use curling iron or flat iron my hair anymore. My hair is naturally wavy. I just get up, wash, scrunch with my fingers a little and go. It has saved me so much time doing away with the heat products. I am super excited about going gray.

I've been transitioning for 6 months now. My daughter thinks it looks lovely. I'm at the scruffy stage but I'm holding on and there's no way I'll be dying it again. Stay safe huni xx

You are gorgeous! Thank you for sharing your story. I've been growing out my hair since April 2020. I'm 53 and I've been hiding my grays since 30. I was getting so tired of dying my roots - they would start showing within two weeks. I decided to go for it in the midst of the pandemic when I saw other women going gray. I've kept my long hair, so it's been a slooooooooooow and painful process, but I'm getting there. I had my hair dyed an auburn color - now my color looks somewhat like yours. I don't know how I feel about it, but I like that the hair that's grown in is healthier and softer. Also, I noticed that my hair grew in thicker in some areas where it seemed to be thinning. I like that part very much. I'm committed to seeing it through. So, we will see.

44...I'm sick of dying my hair every 2 months, so exhausting. I have locks and need to use 4 bottles of dye to cover. No, I've had enough and embracing my reality.

The grey lighter undertone definitely complements your skin tone. Also, with your face shape, a bob cut would look amazing.

It’s truly beautiful 🥰 Thank you for sharing. I am considering growing out my gray. I already have a short hair style. After coloring my hair since high school and wanting to be more free in all ways, I am binge watching transitioning to gray hair videos-so… I really appreciate your real talk and attitude and tips! 💗

34 male. First noticed some grays at like 16, but I was/am a Goth - so I regularly dyed my hair BlueBlack (naturally dark brown). Really started noticing gray roots in my early 20s. I started working in healthcare - so I wear a cap everyday - because of that I stopped heat treating and dying as often. Then the pandemic hit. I stopped coloring and heat treating altogether. So for the first time since I was like 13 - I have totally virgin hair. Totally salt and pepper. I love it

Hi Juliya, I think you looked beautiful in pixie hair cut. I also started having grey hair at a very young age. By 20s I have started covering my grey. I went pixie the year I decided to stop coloring it black but still couldn't bring myself to stop coloring. By now it's been 2 years since I really stopped coloring. But I still keep my pixie.

Thank you for your articulate and thoughtful sharing Juliya. You look so gorgeous; you are glowing. This was wonderful inspiration for me. I tried growing out my silver hair 5 years ago and it was looking so elegant and then I got a colour analysis and they told me I was a warm season so I was encouraged to warm my hair again and I did oh how I regret that. I'm starting over now to grow it out again. This time I won't be persuaded away from my natural shimmering locks. I wondered have you thought of growing out your fringe to thicken the hair on top and then you could pin it into a faux Mohawk so the bright silver sides of your head can be a focal point? Not sure if that's your style but thought to add incase. New sub here.

Hi Juliya nice to meet you I'll look into your advice when my hair turns grey coz, for now, it's just a few of it that changed to grey but you can barely see it because it's few of them. By the way, loving the bob hair you got there.

Thank you! It takes time for grey hair to show up. And everyone's hair is different. I thought I would have more grey, but that's what I have now. However it's always changing. And 5 years later you may have more greys too. :)

The pixie wasn’t bad on you. A little more length looks gorgeous. Your skin is stunning, you look much younger for your age. I actually find that if a woman with grey hair has nice skin, she looks younger than with dyed hair. Your hair is beautiful on you.

You are beautiful!!!!! Your hair is beautiful and don’t worry you will have the hair my beautiful grandma has, I hope to have her hair. She has naturally white hair at 70 that 17 year olds pay thousands to have! I am 36 and I am stopping coloring my hair. I am now out like maybe 4 months, I have greys, I like the the color but they are curly!? Do you have any curly grey hair?
