I'm in hardiness zone 6b and just put my taro roots in bags, tied them and moved to warm place. They do have little pink tops already, so I'm hopeful, but I'm also worried, they started developing fluffy mold on the bottoms. I don't wanna them rot before they grow, should I sanitize them? With what? Cut the mold out and let it dry before putting in bags? Cut out the mold and buy new ones? Taro is rare in my country, I grabbed 1½ kg as soon as I saw it in store, but I thought it's a bit too early for planting and it just waited till now. I don't know if I'll be able to get new ones and if they won't get moldy, too...

If you have more than one bud coming from one taro root, you will get that much plants. Thank you

After germinating and sprouting roots and plastic bag and oven why not just plant them directly in the ground

Thanks for your comment. Actually until June I can't plant them outside, because of low temparature. That's why I keep them alive in small pot. If your weather is good you can definately plant them outside.

No dear we have to plant them each year. In Canadian winter they all die outside. They can't survive outside in -10° c even we use mulch.

Thank you for showing how to root taro. I live in WA State, up near Canada. Could you please tell me what conditions taro like best (full sun, shade, part shade, etc.? Also, will it become invasive if put in the ground and how will it do if left in a pot? Thanks again!

Thank you too for watching my video. In Toronto I always grow it in shade or partial shade condition. They are not invasive here, during Winter in ground they dried up.
