Big Herc met with Matt V, a south sider from the Inland Empire, whose story is centered around the psychological aspect of Prison. Many do not understand the various forms of psychological warfare that takes place once you are on the inside. It can come from guards and inmates but the worst, is when you are your own worst enemy. Take a look at Matt's perspective as he explains segregation, the disconnect from family and the struggles of life on the outside.

Your interview style where you just let the other person talk is so rare yet so valuable. You get a much more real conversation when the person gets to take it where they want and talk about what they found important rather than you stringing them along so they can answer bullet points.

Other people try to control the speaker and steer them in the direction they want it to go, but Big Herc just wants to hear their story as much as we do. He knows is not about the host.

Ya a lot of interviewers are retarded the other reason Herc let's him talk is because Herc basically knows everything he's gonna talk about besides his personal experiences.

If you like him for being a regular ass dude in the pen, youd really enjoy the channel Lockdown 23& 1! Hes done a decent amount of time in prison but never got down with gang life or anything, but he has all the basic prison knowledge. He also is a gamer and a cool ass dude

William Perry the most gangster dudes I knew looked just like “regular dudes” it’s crazy you wouldn’t suspect they gang bang but they’re down for their shit. My big homie was dangerous and he looked like a “regular dude” lmao. Haven’t seen him in a year though since I got out that life.

@mr facts "All Mexicans are southsiders" Incorrect. Mexicans are split. Hispanic gang members from southern California are considered to be “Southsiders.” Hispanic gang members from northern California are considered to be “Nortenos.” Southsiders owe their allegiance to the Mexican Mafia, while Nortenos owe their allegiance to Nuestra Familia. The statewide north-south dividing line between Norteños and Sureños has roughly been accepted as Salinas and Fresno.

I really liked this dude. His story shows that prison truly fucks with your mind. He's been out 11yrs & the way he talks about still struggling with social interactions and responsibilities sounds like he was released 6 months ago. The PTSD from prison is real. Watching your vids are very entertaining, but it's also motivation to stay the hell away from prison.
@wolfumz

focknfree yeah my thoughts exactly. Matt has a nervous personality, he has some trauma in his past, and I don't think he's really got the tools to manage his anxiety. He spent his first years as an adult locked up and probably formed some persistent negative beliefs about himself in there. He would probably get a lot of help from talking to a counselor or therapist. He probably had some of this stuff going on before he went in, RE: anger, getting overwhelmed, craving freedom from responsibilities.

I know this is the way a lot of people role, but I think it's wrong to bring other people in on your shit like that. If you have dirty guns, take care of them yourself without asking your friends to put themselves in legal danger too for something they haven't anything to do with. It's a different thing if the friends offer to help, and if I was his friend and felt I could bail him out, I would have done so. But if I was the dude with the guns, I wouldn't be going around expecting my friends to take part of the responsibility for me.

Seems like something so easy and quick he could have done to avoid loosing YEARS of his life...? Maybe I'm just paranoid and thats why I always air on the side of caution. I'm sure there is more to the story than I know so I can't really speculate, just my opinion on what I know. Good little interview Big Herc. Keep em coming! -Mark

He was probably naive at that age, thought his friends would get rid of the guns as it would be something he would do for a friend, he's pretty chill too so probably didn't think it was a big deal, small favour, shitty friends.

Some would and I agree with the thought in general... Sadly many of the youths won't listen if they don't respect you, and this guy not presenting himself as a violent, hustling, drug dealing dude would not be someone they'd respect at that point in their lives because they value what they perceive as power (violence, high criminality, etc).

This is why rehabilitation is so important. My boyfriend is currently incarcerated right now,and I'm watching videos similar to this so I can get an idea of what to expect or to see things from his perspective and understand a little better on what to expect and how I can help him once he gets out. Thank you so much for this channel!! It's so educational and insightful.
