Raised in rural New Zealand. Rode our ponies to school. The school had a pony paddock. There were 6 of us riding to school. Sometimes we just caught 3 ponies and went 2 kids per pony. We had one pony that could take 3 children. Happy days.

I've always wanted to live in the country side when I'm older

32:17 As someone who lives in Scotland, it’s basically rain every week. Luckily it’s been quite sunny this summer.

I grew up in the country in the Western US. We were so spread out that there wasn't a lot of local things. But there was church on Sunday, school activities, and the big thing was the county fair. Other than that, it was small group cookouts for the neighbors.

You have literally just described my village! We have two pubs opposite each other (bit of a rivalry there) and we have a village hall and around every week or so there will be a farmers market (knitted clothes, vegetables, cakes, jewellery and wood-carved items) which is right next to the playground! There’s a local livery yard where basically all of the village keep their horses- you often see them riding around the village. We have an amazing committee for planning special events (summer fates, etc.) My mum and I volunteer our help and often run a craft stand for the events (I’m often in charge of money.) There’s a village shop, primary school, chinise and tea&cake shop! Anyways, I have lived in this village all my life and although my parents have split up, my mum, dad, gran and pops all live in this village! I love hearing about your memories as they are so similar to mine! PS: if you want to go into the nearest town it’s a short 10-15 minute drive, however if you want to go to the city you need to travel between 45 minutes to an hour. But the big big city is two-two and a half hours away! Loved this podcast, amazing as always! ❤

I live in Texas. We bought a ranch in the Texas hill country 5 years ago. We have a 10 minute drive to town, 20 minute drive to good shopping, 30 minutes to fine dining, and my husband drives 1 hour to get into the city for his job. We absolutely love it!

I'm a country person. I live in a village now in the UK but we don't have this much shops, hairdresser or nail salon nearby. Also it's amazing that you have a forest near your village and you can go for a walk easily. I lived in a town in the past but had the workplace in a different town and I used to drive 4,5-5 hours per day, to get to work and then home, it was 100 miles every day. I love driving but not in the traffic.. I did that for about 2 years. All your videos are very enternaining and interesting.

I am a country girl at heart, through and through! I grew up in small country towns, and in my teens we lived in the country side. Today I live very far out in the country. 5 km to the nearest small town with a shop, we're lucky to have 4 of those within 15 km from home. But a bigger town with decent shopping is 30 minutes - 26 km approximatly, and the nearest city is 50 minutes and almost 60 km away 😂 I love it out here! We have 800 m and a view to the fjord, and plenty of forests around aswell. I've lived in Denmarks second largest city, and in quite a few other cities in my 20'ties (33 yo now), and I'm never doing that again 😆

I honestly feel like I was born into the wrong life sometimes. I love horses so so so much. I wish I could live in the countryside with horses and fields and hills, but I live in a not so great area of London around so many people, and a lot of rude people at that. I truly do envy people that get to live in the countryside. As you said i'm sure there's pros and cons, just as there's pros and cons to living in a city. The convenience of having things here close by for one thing. Although for me personally as someone who adores nature, I feel like living in the countryside would definitely be way more positive than negative for me personally haha

I'm in a town and its really good, 5-10min drive till ur in farmland 25-35mins to city and you have most of the stuff u need within a 15min drive

What you've described as a Pub is what I would describe as a bar in America. In America you can't drink until you're 21, and I'm a teenager, so obviously I can't drink. Often times my family will go to the local bar, or a bar in a nearby town. What I consider a bar is basically a sit down, greesy-food, gathering spot, that also has a literal bar where you can get alcohal. I'd also say 90% of the time there's the hunting/shooting arcade type thing. I also grew up in a tiny tiny town, so we would have little town summer festivals. The day would start off with a 5k. Parades would have horses and tractors, we'd have vendors, beanbag competitions, and other little stuff. There'd always be cheesecurds and lemonade. We'd even have sand boxes, but instead of sand there was corn kernals. Sometimes there's even be petting zoos

I live in Tasmania (it’s an island in Australia) it’s really foresty and I live right on the beach in a lil town and outside the town there’s just trees and ocean it takes like half and hour to get to the city but where I live it’s very rural and there’s not a lot to do in our tiny town

Then your concern about driving for 30 minutes----I live in the San Francisco Bay Area & like most urban areas you can sit on the road for 30 minutes without moving & that's just normal. I grew up in the uk countryside and loved it in fact I miss the hacking watching these vlogs always brings back such happy memories I live in Australia now and have my horses at home but hacking out is a challenge and requires a bit of a drive not nearly so nice

Hey Esme! i have a to ask some advice from you, You dont have to respond, it could be anyone , i just need advice , My current riding school is selling Most of their horses, only keeping The showjumpers and the dressage mare, i started 2 years ago, but oy had a lesson twice or even once of lessons. fast forward a bit, i get put on a beautiful chestnut gelding, perfectly suiting my riding level and confidence, while i was riding him at the time, i was put on a tall, large OTTB mare, super sweet and retrained, learning on her to learn a canter. i did my first show on him on lead rein, but a month later, both of them got sold, two days apart, there is a little arabian mare that i can ride, but her health is on and off, and to make things worse, the only trainer there quit, so now its close to impossible to get a lesson, getting a new school isn't easy since im the horsey person in the family. i feel like im falling out of riding, but i really dont want to... what do i do?

I used to live in the country when I was younger but sadly we went to live in canada and I live in the city which is pretty boring :( At least my parents still let me ride even if my barn is like 45 mins far from my house :,)

My closest shop is 7KM away ;-; I can’t drive but my parents can and we have no shops schools or building except for 1. Houses 2. Stables 😂
