I think your parents really had a big role in this process. They were open minded about adapting to the country's customs and they allowed you and your siblings to interact with the people from all walks of life.

great story it's totally the opposite of my experienced when i was back home i had the best and happiest life i had friends, crushes, girlfriends, and i felt love and i loved. it was a great feeling of love and life and it all ended when i was 14 when we came to USA. everything was the opposite the land is as distant as the people. the country is cold and so are the people i did not have friends and did not know how to speak english on top of that. after 3 months living in the US i was sad and lonely i missed my friends, the food, my girl, and my old life i was in my room crying and wanted to go home so bad. now years later i live in a different life yeah i own a house and a car without any payments i have opportunities that i could never have back at home i have dated but never took them seriously because it was not the same feeling i had back home the feel good feeling that you feel in your soul. there are many people out here that have many things because of the opportunities but are empty inside and in empty relationship the majority of divorced people in the world are in the US the same goes with obesity. our home might not be wealthy but it's blessed with good experience, good friends, love, and happiness it's a special place no other countries i've been to are as special. much love to my motherland you will always be in my heart.

Jessica, I am a 44 years old English teacher in Thailand. I started my teaching career with foreigners about 14 years ago. Seeing this video made me feel emotional as I remembered how I met my very first students from Korea. It was hard for me the first time, but you are correct, food is always a good topic for communication and conversation. I used to work in a Korean family. I love them so much as they have treated me as their own. Now, it is my 7th year in Thailand, I really appreciate my Korean students and I am very grateful to them. Without them, I might not end up teaching English in Thailand. Korean students made me feel as a "good" teacher. They asked me difficult questions that persuaded me to research and study more about grammar. I really love this episode, I was teary eyed when I saw your old photos, fortunately I kept a lot of photos at home and everytime I go home to the Philippines, I open the box and look at them. it reminds me of everything, the culture, the laughters, the food, the hardships. I will never forget my Korean students from the first day we met and the day they had to depart and go back to Korea. You could see how they changed their attitude, I saw how they slightly adopted to Philippines and outlook in life. For many times I heard from them, Korea is a bit stressful country, competitive and people are serious. They are amazed when they see filipinos smile all the time even in a very difficult situation. Thanks for reading

Before, an influx of Filipino nurses were being recruited then 4 years earlier, they started recruiting Korean nurses. Koreans have the best work ethics. They are very nice, soft spoken and smart. A big influx of Koreans also are in my province in Pampanga, specifically in Angeles City. You are right to learn english. More power to you!!!

hu hu hu you made me cry. It's as if i watched a whole movie with your life, so beautiful it made me reflect on my life as well as I am a Filipino. I have always felt that magic and the wondrous mystery of this place I was born in. I've always felt lucky to be born here humble as it is. Riches don't mean happiness. It is in the spirit and in the heart. I always think of the scholars who said after comprehensive research and study said that they found out that Philippines is the exact place of Eden, the garden paradise where God put the first man and woman. Where humankind originated and multiplied from. All the evidences they've collected pointed to the Philippines (Palawan area)

I'm really happy as a Filipino when someone who is foreign appreciates the Philippines. You really had an amazing life living in here. It feels good hearing that you appreciated the great things and experienced one of the priceless moments of your life here in the Philippines with the Filipinos. This video of yours touched me. You're a pure person. I'll keep supporting you, Ate Jessica! ❤

Oh my goodness, your parent must be so proud to have raised such a wonderful person. Understanding and embracing the role of your time in the Philippines as part of who and what you have become today is so powerful. As a filipino who grew up and have lived in the states most of my life, I have just recently reconnected again with my birth country and can say I am proud to be a filipino. I am hoping to retire eventually back in the Philippines as I want the simple life and the warm people that the country can provide which I long for these days.

In fact many many many Filipinos I know have said the same thing I have. And communal love? LOL. It is done to make sure that if they can't make it themselves, they will have others bail them out. Jessica you are a Jem :’) What a beautiful story told in the most genuine and sincere way 🤍 a warm hug to the heart. As an ex English teacher in Korea, the part of you talking about how your teachers made you feel like you were family and not just to fulfill their role as educators, made me tear up. I miss Korea so much, and wasn’t certain about going back to teach this year. But your video motivated me. I never felt competent in my abilities to teach but to see that being a teacher I can offer so much more to my students than just helping them learn English but the interaction and love you can have and give them to be. Like yourself 💜 Stay happy and well Jessica! And PH will always be your second home by the inevitable smiles on your face when you talk about the PH 🥰

This content of your channel makes me cry for the first time. I felt your genuine love for our country and most of all how you appreciate those people (my Kababayans) around you when you were still there even up to now. The idea of knowing someone like you (a foreigner) who appreciate us Filipinos makes me emotional. Thank you that through your channel you are showing in the world how to become a good example to many by embracing each other culture (not saying this because I'm a Filipino but i can perceive that you are such a wonderful person). We all know that in every country there's always flaws and imperfections in every way, but that's how the world is. We just have to look things in different ways such as putting our perspective in a positive way, learning to embrace and love each other culture and differences in that way we can make a difference. Every individual was molded of their life experiences into what they are now and I can feel that your experiences in the Philippines as well as in your country made you a great person, of course with the guidance and upbringing of your parents. I rarely leave a comment to videos but i noticed that i type too long of yours😉🤞❤

I love it! It feels so sincere and heartwarming, and I love that you enjoyed your childhood here. I wonder tho how was your life like before you flew to the Philippines. Because this looks like a typical childhood for most Filipino kids, it'd be interesting to see the difference between your childhood in Korea vs. here. Were the neighbors' kids just as nice? Were the neighbors aunts just as talkative and welcoming? Haha.

interesting story, I remember a few years back when there were still a lot of Koreans walking around the city (usually in groups) near English study centers. It turned out to be more than just learning, but an actual exchange of cultural ideas. Maybe you can write a short book about it, as you have the perfect experience what it's like to be in the middle of two cultures :)
