Welcome aboard and EA-18G Growler catapult shot off the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) in 2017 in the Arabian Gulf. This was a MAX power Case III launch off catapult 2 on a 7+ hour sortie in support of OPERATION INHERENT RESOLVE. Keep the lights on for me. I'll be hungry when I get back. Fly Navy!
CORRECTION to the narration
In the jam, I mention "the shooter" around time 7:10. Since this was a bubble launch, the shooters were actually in the bubble and the catapult safety observer, an ABE (Aviation Boatswain's Mate - Launch/Recovery), is the sailor who tells me to run up the throttles and gives me the final "thumbs up" prior to launch. Thanks to my subscribers for pointing out this detail to me.
If you like the video, please like, subscribe, and turn on notifications - I appreciate it! If we get enough support, we can keep this channel going.

Mustangs make the best officers, imo. They have experienced life at the bottom, and make fewer mistakes than the officers who went to some fancy academy but have no real life experience. I was enlisted, but served at my command headquarters, so I got to see a side of the officer corps most rank and file kids didn’t. The generals who respected the enlisted men and women who make the whole thing possible were the best leaders.

Awesome video sir! In 1986 I went on a 'tiger cruise' and my uncle showed me what the Navy life was like, I'll never forget seeing that Tomcat launch. Later that evening I was asked when I was going to join the Navy. I said I wasn't, I'm going to the Air Force. I thought I was going to get a beating. Navy aviators have balls of steel.

Trust me, as a civilian desk jockey who works for Uncle Sam, it's a thrill to see this video! And those of us tethered to the ground can always dream, right? Thanks again and stay safe out there!

So cool! Was an engineer on the Carl V and my brother was the waist cat CPO, I spent a lot of time watching cat shots when I was supposed to be sleeping. Amazingly how they launch and the cues from the flight deck personnel to get you lined up to your catapult.

US naval aviation just blows my mind. The coloured jerseys, the hand signals, the pattern organisation, the landing procedure. You can tell it's well thought because it's all so simple, as far as landing fighter jets on ships could ever be called that. It all makes you go "well duh, obviously that's the best solution". The way humans iteratively improve on something to arrive at the best way of solving a problem is fascinating.
