On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

The T14 breaking down in the Red Square during May Day rehearsal, their inability to make the 57 actually functional, and now this joke of a thing which looks like a wish version of the X32 which is even funnier because they are copying a western design that lost its contract bid to the F35. @TheOfficial007 that's why it would be interesting to go up against the Black Widow. To see if it doesn't get tracked like the Raptor. 23 was stealthier and faster, just wasn't as quite as maneuverable. @@codychild2665AFAIK the Black Widow was only marginally faster, think like 0.2 mach tops, but it was gonna be more difficult to work with in terms of the materials for smth complex near the intake and exhaust for RCS control; in weapons capacity Raptor could hold 8 and even demonstrated firing while the YF-23 would hold a little less. In the big picture the industry balance at the time for fighters leaned towards Mc/Boeing and NG so I imagine the thought was to throw LM a bone.

DCS is modeled based on the unclassified numbers. Historically, Russia tends to overstate their capabilities, and the US tends to understate them. One thing I keep thinking about though... You know how beefy the radar is on an F-15, where it can lock you, your jet, and the hotdog you have in your stomach? When they ran a 5v1 exercise against the F-22, none of the F-15's even got radar contact, let alone lock or visual.

For my RCS is a bumblebee's, I can defeat your missiles with ease and sneak my way in for the kill." A question I’ve always had, at what point is too fast for an air to air/ SAM? Surely that would put severe limits on maneuvering capabilities, yeah sure it’s a tiny un-manned machine but at hypersonic speeds pulling that hard? That’s like driving a truck at 200 mph and trying to aim for an ant that can also move fairly quickly in the street.

I love how this encounter is conducted under two VERY big assumptions. The first one being that the supposed”hypersonic” missiles actually work; and the second being that the Checkmate’s stealth can actually defeat incoming AMRAAMS. There is also the third assumption that it even makes it off the production line at all as well.

I don't get it, if a F22 is stealth and most radars cannot see it until say, 20 miles, how was this SU-75 shooting at 100 miles? What did I miss? Or since we don't know capabilities it was modeled to see an eagle from 100nms?
@VAPhillyFan54

Most likely the Checkmate can see the radar return from his radar. Also, the F-22 isn't perfectly stealth, as it can be seen by various radar types (seen, but not 'locked' per se). Also, the missile will pitbull when in range with it's own tracker/seeker. It's less of a binary question and more probability based.

@GrowlingSidewinder
@GrowlingSidewinder Ай бұрын

@@GrowlingSidewinder Correct stealth doesn't make you invisible to detection. It reduces the possibility of detection and more so reduces the ability to be tracked and locked on by Radar. The unclassified RCS of an F-22 puts it about the same RCS as a bumblebee. You aren't tracking and locking on to a bumblebee from 70 miles out in a fighter jet, when most more powerful ground based Radar can barely detect it, let alone track it. More likely, you aren't going to detect it either (realize that it's bogie) from that distance from a fighter jet without also picking up other signatures from environmental factors or biologics.

@@David-zo7bg ya I'm talking about from a classified projects perspective, not public bullshit info floating around the internet that makes people think they know something about a highly complex academic subject such as radar reflection theory and equations and the effects of stealth. I personally won't sit here and claim that a patriot or S300 can or can not see a stealth fighter, and say it with such confidence and vigor as if I've done it myself to know. A little humility and admittance that we don't KNOW this or that and that we THINK we have seen evidence to support this theory or that theory is a good thing. But statements like "Land based VHF radars can detect stealth, without targeting" said in such a matter of fact way are kind of nonsensical. Unless you have done it yourself....in which case you wouldn't be here on youtube talking about it. Sorry if this comments comes off a little abrasive it just gets frustrating from time to time to see people make absolute claims about things they are not experts in.

I love the videos and don’t know shit about fighters and I’m sure my question is simple for many of you but if most pilots defend by dropping down low, would it be a good tactic for you to fire at altitude then drop lower knowing they will reduce altitude to defend, then recommit and fire at 5k miles high or something? Would you drop low to defend and head away from the other plane or are you normally continuing on your current heading towards a merge?
@reaperbsc
@reaperbsc Ай бұрын
I'm not a pilot either, but you'd have to be insane or out of other options to want to merge. That's a last resort that almost never happens anymore. Once you're merged, neither of you can escape until one of you is dead.
