The funny thing is, apparently the actress voicing Grumpy Cat mostly ad libbed after the rest of the movie was done. She didn't even have a script, so in effect she was making fun of the movie on her own terms.

I have a theory for this film. Audrey Plaza must've read the script, realized the kind of crappy pile she got herself into, and decided to ad-lib a metric ton of riffing against the film. The director, however, did not get the sarcasm and, thinking that her ad-lib was hilarious, decided to keep it for the final product.

+TrvialMatter the adlib does make the movie tolerable and I think the people knew it was sort of not that good of a script so they just went with it.. I dunno it pretty much knows it's a cheap rip off and just accepts it lol.

I will give the movie this, it's nice to see a movie that openly admits "Yeah, fuck it, this is gonna suck. Let's go full-out meta as much as humanly possible." It actually ends up being one of the more harmless christmas movies Snob has ever watched.

Oh it was still bad, but I was pleasantly surprised and I got less of a "Let's point out how bad the movie is!" vibe so much as "Lifetime movie writers hate their jobs and finally got a single chance to tear into what they do on a regular basis so long as they met certain guidelines."

I'm not gonna lie, I really like this movie. I know it's not great but it's a lot better than I was expecting and sarcastic humour is very much my thing, so I honestly laughed throughout and enjoyed it immensity. It's become a yearly Christmas watch for me.

murrfeeling I know that: I own two of 'em. And I know about Grumpy Cat (who doesn't?). It's not just the face though, the whole film feels like one of those home videos where you bob your cat up and down to make them dance. And not all cats get bite-y, I had one cat who seemed to not even notice that he had claws. Of course, he was a cuddler, but have you ever met a cat that liked cameras? Ok, stupid question. (Also, about naturally grumpy cats, I always wanted a scottish fold, the ones with the droopy ears.)

Well.. my cat is a complete camera whore actually. ^ ^; So I can believe a cat would want to "perform". But generally I just don't like animal movies because well... animals can't act or anything really. Or understand what they're supposed to be doing. It's not the basis for making a good show.

I've heard that Tardar Sauce (a she) is actually quite friendly and pleasant. She just has an expression that looks that way. A sort of resting bitch face. Considering that people are mostly doing things around her and are just adding CGI or at the most bouncing her a bit or holding her, the worst it could get would be some loud noises, some strangers, and some flashing lights, but I'm betting they keep her off set until they are ready anyway. If she's well socialized, she may actually dig the attention, or at the very least be used to it.

I've never been huge into memes, including grumpy cat, but I don't know I kinda dig the shameless advertising and hyper awareness of this film's own shittiness, especially with Aubrey Plaza as the voice. Doesn't make the film good in any way, but sort of amusing nonetheless

it's not good, but you can get a few laughs from the stupidity of it all and audrey's lines. i'm guess that's what they were shooting for.

Fun fact, the puppets were done by the Jim Henson Creature shop. From Labyrinth and The Witches, to Grumpy Cat.

...I kind of want a movie where Lil' Bub tries to take over the world and Tartar Sauce is forced to keep her from doing so because she made a bet with a human that she would do anything she could to keep Bub from achieving her goals. Also Bub should have telekinesis and Tartar should have the ability to write.
