Little Wing was written for Devon Wilson. Dolly Dagger was wtitten for Lois k. Jimi had ladies and friends who he had nicknames for. I was a friend in Seattle ( not a lover ). My childhood nickname was Angel and that is what he called me. He introduced me to them both. Btw, some of these women were not groupies. Women like Pattie Boyd.

I've never truly understood idol worship or idolatry , despite being in the music industry myself . It's a sort of fetishism that continues to stupefy me to this day . I personally found groupies to be child like , feeble minded dullards that were soliciting manipulation in order to achieve the fame they are desperately craving themselves .

You're right on. Pamela Des Barres is a good example of that. She's an elderly woman these days and still promoting her groupie stunts like she contributed something of value to society. It's sad and pathetic.

One acts a bit silly when one's having a crush or is in love 🥰 We also have to keep in mind that, back then, these legendary rock'n'roll names weren't as big and legendary as they are today, so the arguement, that groupies just did what they did for fame, doesn't hold up. They went on to write books because people want to hear the stories! I think there is an element of demi se×uality to the groupie phenomenon - we hear the music and lyrics and interviews and get the feeling we know the person.

“Groupies” were always good to me. I however always tried to elevate them above what popular opinion would have one believe regarding these folks. Had great times with many road friends, I however always confirmed they were of age; easily done by taking them to the bar, bartender does the dirty work for you. If they weren’t able to drink I would take them to dinner and then made sure they got home, safely.

As hard as it is, to hear, groupies knew exactly what they were doing, by the time they were 15. They were pretty much the same girls, and would show up at the venues no matter who was playing.

You are correct about young groupies!! I was one, fake ID in hand. I chose to go find the boys and lied to them about my age. Us 80s ladies took control of our backstage life. We weren't the trinkets of the 70s. ❤❤❤

The great blues guitarist Albert King did a version of the Stones' 'Honkey Tonk Women.' King changed the the words in 2nd verse to: "Later Vail, covered me in roses / but I just can't seem to drink her off of my mind." A week or two prior to the recording, King had met (and slept with?) a groupie friend of mine named Vail, from Bethesda MD. She was 17, blonde and pure white-skinned and every other word from her pink lipstick mouth was 'oh wow!' Another lady friend of mine, a petite 18 yr old Jewish lass, got cozy with Fats Domino, but that's another little story, ....among many. I'm blond and leader of an R&B band. One night after a bar gig, a British groupie took me up to her hotel room. She kept saying I reminded her of Keith Relf, the lead singer of the Yardbirds, who she had slept with, years prior.

That he had the nerve to mention her in his autobiography w/o her permission while he totally white washed his drug usage to protect the young children he had w/ wife # whatever. She was married and had teenaged children by then and was left w/ some explaining to do. He had had her Mother give him legal guardianship of her at 16, so that he could cross State lines w/ her. He was the one who told her that he wanted a child w/ her. But, by the time it comes for her to deliver, he's well finished w/ her and rather than having a baby when she wakes up, she finds he had brought a doctor in to perform the late term abortion (which, to me, despite being pro-choice is nothing short of killing a viable human at that point). I met him at an after-party on a press pass (not mine) in Toronto, when ALL of this would have been going on. ~ You're absolutely correct in calling him a monster.

She knew exactly what she was doing as a “groupie” He didn’t force her parents to sign papers or force her to go with him. You don’t need someone’s permission to write about your own life story. She could have said NO to the abortion. It probably wasn’t even his. She was a GROUPIE! They F***ed everyone they could. Nobody was twisting their arm or holding a gun to their head. Unless you were in the room you have no idea what was really said between them about having a baby. Tyler did a lot of bad things and made mistakes, but he is not a monster. Her suing him after all the time that had passed was just about the money nothing else. He has opened several houses for abused girls. He told what happened before she did. She just got embarrassed for people to know what she did. Many women have falsely cried rape and sent men to prison because they felt ashamed of what they did after the fact. The fact remains she said yes to everything!

Especially because he totally whitewashed his drug usage to protect his then young children w/ whatever # wife. My friend wrote a book and published it himself for fear of naming names and being sued. ~ He NEVER told the story of the attempted murder. She wanted to keep the baby. I don't even understand, at 65, the logistics of a full-term abortion when the baby is way beyond viable. That was forced on her by the doctor that he brought in. ~ I believe her. ~ However, I do agree w/ you that there are a lot of women who have falsely cried rape because of day after regret and ruined men's lives. ~ I don't believe ALL women. Her story is far too credible and in the drugged out state he was in, his is not.

Rock music was nearly all by men. So many of lyrics are juvenile and vulgar. On one hand, I grew up focusing on the music, often ignoring the lyrics. People condemn the actions of when this was happening which I find rather funny. It wasn’t out of the ordinary. 60’s, 70’s 80’s people didn’t look at age the same way they do now. This still happens it’s just not out in our faces as much. Tyga with Kendal Jenner when she was a minor is just one example.

It was rock & roll, a different time, while not exactly condoned, everyone turned a blind eye to it. It still happens today, not only with bands, but with famous actors, sports stars, and celebrities. The question should be - Why do people put celebrities on a pedestal and think they are such great humans? They may be super talented at what they do, but they have the same human weaknesses as everyone else. Even as teen decades ago, I at a least had enough sense to admire the talent, not the person. Are not some of Kevin's Spacey's roles brilliantly performed, despite appearing that he is a rotten guy? Is Jimmy Page's incredible output of great songs and catalog of clever and iconic riffs any less better since he could be considered a child molester?
