Television would not be what it is today without Lucille Ball. The comedic actor became a household name thanks to “I Love Lucy,” the 1950s sitcom she starred in alongside her then-husband, Desi Arnaz. The show broke barriers in a number of ways, and Ball quickly moved on from TV star to producer.
While she was well-known for her slapstick comedy skills and her fiery red hair, there are aspects of Ball’s life that few outside of her biggest fans know about. From her childhood difficulties to her TV legacy, let’s take a look inside the life of Lucille Ball.

Consider that Lucille Ball's television helped create two classic film and television franchises Star Trek and Mission : Impossible. Buying one idea and allowing the other to be filmed at the Desilu studios. That is a considerable achievement in those days, when women rarely had such power in show business, regardless of whether you like either show or not.

She was stunningly beautiful, a great comedic actress and a successful business executive at a time when very few women were in the corporate boardroom. And the drama school told her she was wasting her time pursuing a career in entertainment. She proved them wrong and she was a spectacular role model.

I love I Love Lucy reruns when I was younger. I still love them. That show was awesome. They don't make sitcoms to last like they did. I absolutely loved Supernatural. @@AllisonChains64 true lol. It was just one of a few series I actually got into that my dad also enjoyed. So more it is about the shared bonding time that warms my heart. I watched I Love Lucy reruns with my older sister so it makes those shows sentimental to me. Oh I also have good memories of Married With Children. Or Major Dad. Honestly the TGIF line up over the years made being home on Friday nights the best.

The video mentioned that the reason Lucille Ball traveled with Desi for their on the road show was to demonstrate that the "My Favorite Husband" radio show could be a television show. I've always heard the reason Lucille and Desi took their act on the road was to show TV execs that the show would indeed work with Desi playing the part of Ricky Ricardo. This was due to the TV execs' assumptions that no one would believe Lucy could be married to a Cuban as stated in another part of the video. Lucille and Desi figured if they gain a following around the country from doing their live show as a comedy duo, then that's what the country would want to see on TV. And it worked!

I like watching Lucille's performance in "Room Service," with the Marx Brothers. It is fun to see how different she was perceived and utilized that early in her career, regardless Lucille Ball was obviously captivating and had beautiful comedic timing even when performing more as the straight character as opposed to the folly.

About 98% of this info is already known. But l must admit that this presentation is about the best and most organized l've seen on KZfaq. Most, if not all, of what l've seen on KZfaq contain pictures that don't match with the narration, and there's misinformation. What makes it even worse are the mispronunciation of names or robotic narrators. But you pulled this one together with perfection. I would rate this as #1.

There’s a short blooper video where she mixes up her lines & you can see her trying to hide her laughter! Desi came to her rescue & I believe that’s the same version they kept for tv! It’s cute if you can find it! I think she was supposed to be dancing with a star in that episode! Maybe it was Van Johnson!! “Dancing with Van” & she says “Vancing with dan,” or something! 🤣 They do a retake & she can’t stop laughing! Desi is also funny, coving for her! I’m LOL! Now I have to go out & find it! 😂

All of these "truths" have been told MANY times. That is why you have all of this information. They are found in books written by credible researchers. As for other "truths," Desilu did not "invent" syndication. Television syndication was already in place when I LOVE LUCY was in production. It was already in place when I LOVE LUCY started production. Television syndication was created to provide local television stations with film packages for programming. It consisted mostly of old theatrical features and cartoons starting in 1950 and continued throughout the 1950s with the most significant sale of short subjects and cartoons taking place in 1955 and '56 with the sale of the Paramount shorts library. There were also programs produced specifically for syndication that never ran on the networks. Shows like DECOY, WHIRLEY BIRDS, TUGBOAT ANNIE, and THIS IS ALICE are examples.
