I have a full build 2.0 long rod on Link G4+ on HKS cams 274/278 running HKS 7460 turbo and while mapping my car sounds just the same but the mapper said it would be a lot better the way he mapped it as in smooth down low, we mapped it on Race fuel and it makes a big difference the way the car sounded.

Thanks dude. What do you want to know? So far it's still a stock block, stock head, upgraded springs and retainers, GSC stage 2 272 cams, HTA GT3586 turbo, 3" exhaust, 880cc injectors, and a whole lot of other goodies :D

I ended up doing what you told me and got the gsc s2 cams, gsc beehive valve springs, arp headstuds, walbro 255lph fuel pump, and a tial q 50mm bov for my evo ix, also the aem digital boost gauge. Should be interesting. Car gets dropped off on Wednesday for the install of everything and tune.

@vhuntermani11 It depends on what you're going for, like how do you drive your car? Is it a daily? If it is I'd go with GSC S1s. Or is it a weekend racer? Do you have a 35r turbo or similar size? If you do then I'd go with the S2s. And if it's just a drag car and you don't drive it to anything else, than you'd go with S3s, because a huge turbo would need them. It all depends, hope this helped.

It really isn't the exhaust because it didn't sound like that when it was just the exhaust installed. The sound changed to that after I installed my turbo kit and cams. But it's an Invidia 3" turbo back stainless steel exhaust to answer your question.

Hey I forgot to ask you if you upgraded anything else in the head with the cams, I heard it not necessary to upgrade springs and retainers if your gonna keep your stock rev limit

@stryfetew Yea I just looked on the GSC website it says 274/274 but when I look at say Map Performance or English Racing website it says it's a 274/272 so I don't know what's going on. Hell the AMS website states 278/274

@vhuntermani11 well if you only have race tracks in your country then I'm assuming it's a road course right? a 6265 is laggy as hell for a road course. S3's are made for big turbos that are drag cars. My set up for my evo ( I track to) Is going to be GSC S2, BBK-B or a FP Red.

s2's are: intake: 274 duration with 11.2mm of lift exhaust: 272 duration with 11.0mm of lift

Actually they're both 274, you can look at the specs on the GSC site

got a call from strictly modified, apparently one of my cylinders has 70% leakdown in compression so the job couldnt be done. Now i gotta figure out what the hell is going on. I wasn't prepared for doing a full head removal. This is going to expensive real quick., I might have to save up and wait.

I was actually pushing 25 PSI on the S1 cams at 330whp, but the gas mileage sucked and so did the drivability. The turbo was always boosting like crazy. Now with the GT35 I get better gas mileage and it only boosts when I'm actually wanting it to.

Soooo Sooo nice. I Just Got My Evo VIII 2 Months Ago, and i already put $3k in engine/wheels &Tires into it, and i'm about to put $4k in parts and labor to get me to 400awhp!!! and btw, i'm getting those cams too ! and the gsc beehive retainers and springs. what all do you have in yours?

There is a mass option that the GSC s2 is better then kelford 272. I know people that go kelford 272 to GSC s2. Pretty much best cams you can get for lancer evo 8-9 is GSC S2 cams. Once you hit past 500hp/500tq then id look at GSC S3. I personally have seen everything comp, hks, kelford, gsc, And GSC are by far the best anything on fp black on down these are amazing cams. Biggest thing is power is better then all of them low end with serious high end power. Really help make my car better inROLLS

@vhuntermani11 Then you might want to get a 2.3 stroker kit, port and polish the head. Maybe get an aftermarket intake manifold or just port it out also. Upgrade your throttle body, get some 1600cc injectors or bigger, a fuel rail. You'll also need a fuel pump if you don't have one yet.

@canabice1 Nope, that's just the way my car sounds. I have an Invidia 3 1/2 inch stainless steel exhaust, test pipe and down pipe, no cat so that's probably why it sounds so loud.

Not really sure how the trans has anything to do with that. Which shop do you work for, cause the company that made the cams and most shops know this happens with very aggressive cams. Please don't comment if you're not going to leave an educated response.
