Good race man. I tried beating this race for like an hour straight of just restarts. I used the Honda NSX (because I won Nitrous for it) and your guide got me the dub. I was a little farther ahead since the nitro, but I think your line/shifts/ and fuel tips are enough for any car to get a win. Thanks!

Great tips mate, I was trying this race with much leaner fuel mix the whole way through (mix 4, pit, mix 3) but was way too slow, best I could manage was 3rd. Will try dropping it through the straights like you did.

I found the Lamborghini Veneno is great for the 800pp events. Just do max weight reduction and chuck in some nos. Great fun to drive too. Oh and the racing gearbox, ecu etc. Beast of a car

Well for me, Portilla got smart and pits on Lap 5, the same lap as me.. so I might need a new strategy, thanks for the fuel guidance though, it helps out a lot.

So he doesn't two stop? Huh. That's odd, usually the AI is very repetative. Maybe you have to trigger the pit by being in a certain position by a certain lap. You can always use the Gr2 car and lower the pp, those things have loads of grip.

I tried a couple times with a stock R8 EVO with a PP of 717, and most times this doesn't really matter, but I guess one really does need to bump the power up, because I could gain time them through the infield and bus stop, but get murdered on the straights because of fuel saving and a stock power level. One stopping with no tires I could only get a 5th place out of it. Doesn't help that Daytona is one of my least favorite tracks, so I need to get this one knocked out! Thanks for the guide!

Just finished. 14.974 to spare. I switched it up a bit from your method. Same vehicle spec, but I mostly ran around in Map 2, until I reached 150mph in the straights, then went up to Map 6, reaching 175mph. Did that for the first 4 laps, then just ran Map 6 for the next two. Portilla and I both pitted in lap 6, didn't change my RHs, filled up, he went to 68%, I came out 6sec behind him. But was able to run Map 1 the rest of the run without worry, so obviously smoked him. I don't think a tire change is necessary if there's no drift involved, it got a tiny bit slippery in lap 10, but nothing crazy. Thanks again for the Mazda recommendation though. My Supra has always bailed me out until now

In my race portilla ends up first with roughly 40 seconds less than your time, so 17:25, it's almost unbearable, with an average of 1:47 per lap i end up 14th

@@geauxgreddy dear, i am here to tell you that... after 20 days or so, i have finally done it. I was using the alfa 8c before watching your video; then i tried the Mazda, like you said to but, it was hard for me to manage its rear end. & then i stick with the ferrari 458. After sooo many attempts, pretty happy about it. Photo finish stuff. Thanks again.

Great video. Managed to win WTC 700 with my GR3 Supra concept with a pit on lap (6 I think?). Beat the Swift in the last corner. This one was a little more tough with the same car. I'll try this method out

Haven’t done this race yet. I still haven’t beat the Gr.3 5/6 pepper race. I’m sure my friends have. I’ve outpaced all of them on Circuit Experience but I’ve struggled to get that win. I’ve probably tried it 20 times with different cars. I’m going to try the no tire change strategy and I might get it.

I've spent numerous hours on this track and the best car for me is the Viper GT3. Fuel mix level 6 when I'm drafting and 4 when trying to catch up to the pack. One pit stop on the end of lap 5 on hard tires. Total race time was 17:57

I just retried the race and clocked 17:51 with the same car. Your short shifting technique seems to be faster and much better method conserving fuel 👍

For me Portilla did one-stop and he finished 15 seconds ahead of me. I was doing similar lap times as you. I also did this race with a controller. Might take out my wheel next time

I don't think anyone has figured out exactly why Portilla one or two stops. I found that when I really pushed toward the front in the first half of the race he would 2 stop. Now that the manu season is over, I may test to see if it is forced by the players position or not. Good luck, I'm sure you'll get it.

@@geauxgreddy traditionally Gran Turismo AI adjust their speeds according to players’ pace. So your hypothesis makes sense.

i only been playing for 2-3 weeks, but do i need an American car to do the Daytona race? I see many people that use TOYOTA'S, JAGUAR'S, MAZDA'S etc. I DONT UNDERSTAND HOW THEY are allowed 2 do this. I AM thinking i want the VIPER, OR THE VETTE. any tips 4 me? I am not even sure which CORVETTE IS GR3, I know which Viper is gr3. that's why i am looking buy the Dodge.

No it's just an 800 pp race at Daytona. If its limited to only a certain nation's car you won't be able to enter with a car from another nation and will be stated in the race restrictions where you enter the race. The GR3 Corvette is in Brand Central under Chevrolet, in the showroom. Called Corvette C7 Gr.3. Not every brand has a Gr.3 car. But most do. Some have more than one.

You can use a detuned Gr 2 car and make it easy.

I am on expert, not sure what triggers the 1 stop. I may go back and check, see if its random or forced.

@@geauxgreddy i finished this last night. The leader pitted on lap 5. I had to do some hardcore fuel saving and pump in fast laps and pitted for fuel on lap 6. Then I caught him on the final lap

It seems like ballance was change. I have only RX-ViSION GT3 CONCEPT version, but it's the same car as I think. And the fuel with your settings are not enough without fuel economy. I must use 5-6 level if fuel economy for 1 pit-stop. And what about AI difficulty? I just made this race by CLK-LM '98 and the first car made this race for 17:59.402. The second place is 18:07.1286. Your time 18:08.319 is only the 3rd place. And also CLK-LM '98 has 944kg and 513hp. And this car is still need to use fuel economy 3 and sometime 2 for 1 pit-stop. I don't see the oppotunity to make only 1 pit-stop with fuel economy 1 like in your video.

I'm on the max difficulty (expert), are you short shifting as well? That big turbo will eat gas at high rpm. I also think their finishing time is dictated by how they react to where you are. I need.to look into it, it may be random if they 1 or 2 stop.

Oh, and did you increase your max speed on the transmission? Higher max speed will give you taller gears to help save fuel as well.

This game is such BS such times. You finished first with 18.08, over 6 seconds faster than 2nd place. I finish second with 18.12, a whole 16 seconds after first place…

I think you have to force the pit stop and their pace by getting out front in the 1st half of the race. Makes no sense, but what does in this game, lol. Keep at it, you'll get it.

The key to this race is the Mazda RX... Other cars are not as good on fuel.

It can go through some fuel with the high RPM turbo though. But ya, it's pretty good on fuel.

BMW drink the fuel like nothing I’ve seen! Even if I super save fuel by lifting of before several corners, run lean fuel mix, I cant win. 2nd place is as good as it gets. If I push harder I run out of fuel on the last lap. Gonna try the mazda and change gear ratio to see if I can get that win! :)
