Game info:
What does the American Dream mean today? For Niko Belic, fresh off the boat from Europe. It's the hope he can escape his past. For his cousin, Roman, it is the vision that together they can find fortune in Liberty City, gateway to the land of opportunity. As they slip into debt and are dragged into a criminal underworld by a series of shysters, thieves and sociopaths, they discover that the reality is very different from the dream in a city that worships money and status, and is heaven for those who have them an a living nightmare for those who don't.

This game was released 4 years after San Andreas. Most people don’t see it now, being almost 14 years ago, but this game set the benchmark for every other video game at the time. The entire architecture was revolutionary itself. Rockstar Games were the biggest hustlers of the 2000s, sad to see times change but that’s part of growing up.

kind of, I know a lot of people were disappointed that it scaled back A LOT on open world stuff to do, coming from San Andreas, but now looking back in 2022, I think GTA4 might have had the best single player story/content ever, especially with BOGT and LAD expansions.

I remember that my friend invited me to his party and his little brother had a brand new PS3 and GTA 4. He let me play and I was amazed for all the things that you could do, specially that the character had a cellphone.

Yet you'll see San Andreas fanboys calling GTA 3 "revolutionary" and GTA 4 "outdated", fucking punk-ass punies. Had we had the tech we have today, GTA 4 would be a more complete, bigger game than R* pushed out. I still play it all the time and it has much, much more depth than the money-minting, arcade style GTA 5. I played 5, don't get me wrong. But a story with depth will triumph over better graphics for me any day. Despite some of it's irritating features, I still find GTA 4 to be Rockstar's best work, right behind RDR2.

The story was much more vapid and generic American Action movie, which is more accessible than the gritty, dark and unwelcoming tone of GTA IV. A shame, too, because even though the city was smaller in IV, it felt more alive and real and less factory-made than V.

I was so excited for GTA V when it came out, and everything about the game is done really well. Hell it even gave me want I missed from GTA IV, which is a bigger world and more activities, but for whatever reason, I couldn't get into it. GTA IV just has so much more heart and a unique identity to it. I don't think I'll ever be able to stop playing this game.

I just realized that line in trailer 3 is probably why so many people thought (and some still think he is) Niko was Russian. "Where's your Russian friend now?" Obviously refers to Vlad in the game but nobody knew that when the trailer came out.

In 2008 i was 8 y/o, everyone talk about this masterpiece at school. When i played this for the first thime thi look to me very realistic. Today i still play gta4 tlad gang wars... this is my favorite game.

I can't believe how low the quality is on these. Even for 720p. I can barely make things out like the roller coaster. It's so bad that I'm having a hard time believing we actually watched it like this 16 years ago. Surely Rockstar has higher quality renders of these. If not then could somebody remake them in 4k? OR could Ai be used to upscale them? * Just found that a guy called iCepxno remade the trailers. They are good but not perfect recreations.

Golden age of gaming back there Christ it’s been 15 years, people my age already are married, have families, kids and I struggle with life, completely lost trying to get grip on it back again…hopefully

Bro I am the same this were golden ages... My friends have families kids carier etc but I am still a kid in mature body. I am happy and grateful that I experienced this gold age of gaming era with GTA IV. I wish you all the bets my friend :-) This game was my puberty lifestyle and everything I needed was console and this game.

Oh man, i just remember the fucking HYPE surrounding this game. Proper masterpiece. My favourite of the series, with SA close behind. This was just grounded, dark, gritty, depressing, they got the tone SPOT on.

What's great about the LCD Soundsystem trailer is it tells you everything you need to know about the city and about Niko. And it helps that Niko isn't walking to the beat. Nobody needs to say a thing.

Bruh.. the king ring trailer was the trailer I showed my mom as a kid while my aunt, her husband and my uncle was sitting next to her. From all trailers, I thought this is the one I should show my mom to make her understand why I need this game. I'm still surprised that she actually bought the game for me after all that. My aunt tried to tell her that this has way too much realistic violence and s-content in it but thank God, my mom is not a Karen😂👌

What about the one with the song Cry by Godley & Creme but Niko's mainly just walking down a very crowded sidewalk (more crowded than was actually possible in the game) like the scene in Midnight Cowboy?

The third trailer! That's what convinced me to buy the game. I mean.. I was already a fan of vice city and san andreas, but I was very hyped for the title. The beautiful graphics and gameplay in the V. Didn't get me as ripped off as this part.
