I think "CG" pre-rendered cutscenes are becoming more and more uncommon, especially with the power of the PS5/Series X. Having worked on both Diablo IV and Last of Us Part I, the super high quality cutscenes are still very much in game, but we just turn on the cooler stuff (e.g. subsurface scattering like Andy mentioned, maybe load in a higher-res model, better-angled lighting and shadows instead of in-game lights, adding volumetric fog and fog cards, dust particles, etc.) We often used a lot of in-game locations as is. Honestly, you can think of it like film. Take a shitty soap opera, turn off the studio lights, add 3-point lighting, make it 24 frames, open up the aperture for a nice depth of field, and now you have something a lot more cinematic. Same concept for in-game cinematics, it's the same game space just more directed (which is why you have cinematic directors like Shaun Escayg and Neil David Carter). Now with higher-end consoles, this becomes *a lot* easier to do live, which is kind of insane if you think about it. 🌠🌈 The more you know 🌠🌈

Floridian best friend here to help. I have my doubts about disney world, seems they're focused on South Florida. Greg makes a great call with Mar-a-lago and Palm beach being featured (shout out). The trailer also showed their version of the bridge to Key West--southern most part of the state. We're getting beaches and beaches, maybe swamps, but no shot there's disney before DLC

2:30 April 1st is the gta 6 video game release day , it’s a tusday, when they update us on Tuesday’s and Thursdays, and it’s in the t shirt that they released when they announced the trailer. It reads (12/5/23 at 9am, which is when it was released, and if we go 3 numbers over we see, 04/01/25 at 2:30pm which is my prediction for the day of gta6. And they say in physical year 2025, well that ends at the end of march 31st so the very next day is April 1st 2025 just like posted in the shirt. Which is a Tuesday.

44:47 I putting all my eggs in the Fall 2025 basket. Rockstar has a solid history of ~2 years between the first trailer and the launch. GTA V was like 22 months, Red Dead 2 was almost the same... both came out in the fall.

I think Rockstar handled the leak properly by biting the bullet and releasing ahead of schedule. It makes you wonder if big studios and publishers should proactively build leak contingency plans into their marketing.

They're definitely trying to build a social network on top of the game, so people will be creating content in a virtual world. So they'll find a way to monetize that. People can do live streams, send each other currency in game.

Another thing to think about is how many relationships died over GTA V, while I remember an interview with a woman saying that a lot of her quality time and bonding with her boyfriend was during GTA V and now, it seems you'll have more of the opportunity to say to your significant other, "Give it a try! Wait, lemme switch characters. Go ahead!" and the game beginning that bonding time for couples as opposed to it being a singular experience even in the single player. Nice

If I was hoping for any references it would be: a) A sociopathinc serial killer like Dexter Morgan b) The first Driver game, since really that was the first time we could drive around "Miami" in an "open world" game. Even having to do that first "training" mission in the underground parking lot, that stopped a lot of people from even starting that game would be super cool :D c) Obviously the original Vice City, because that's still my favourite GTA to date

One thing I didn't think about that is CLEARLY evident in the trailer and a lot of people touch on but just for it's realism: the stadium. With GTA's history of incredible music in their games, and the seeming tease of who could possibly be The City Girls aka the Vice City Girls, do you guys think we'll see concerts and sports events ala Fortnite in GTA 6? I think with what's been done with the Toy Story NFL games, we could end up seeing live games played by Leonida teams at the stadiums. Just took a crazy stop at Speculation Station 🤣

My guess is you’ll have social media and whenever you come across anything crazy you can film and post it and get NPC engagement. Vice versa too. If you do something nuts, the NPC’s will film you and you’ll see yourself going viral 😂

Rockstar can't really get away with the low-hanging-fruit satire & "comedy" anymore in the wake of how brilliant RDR2's writing was, so going with satirizing the cultural shifts for better and worse with the desensitization, sensationalization and weaponization of social media in every aspect of American life might be an angle only Rockstar has the writing chops to deliver, if they can nail it, and if it isn't incredibly dated by the time it arrives, which is kinda what happened with GTAV in some respects.

I mean I understand to some degree but I don’t know if it’s fair because remember back in 2010 we loved the shooter mechanics of GTA five the only reason we want to see them improved nowis because other games have come out since then with upgraded shooter mechanics.
