I remember beating the game for the very first time and was like wow, I don't feel like I won anything.

It's crazy how dark this is compared to GTA V's relaxing pause music.

First time hearing gta 4's menu got me in shock 1. I was not expecting to be any music there 2. Sounds so dark

Imagine going from the flashy, sun soaked city of Los Santos to the dark, depressing liberty city. Playing as Niko really hit me like a truck because it was at one of my lowest times, and the city reflected that. So did niko. Gta 4 is a masterpiece when it comes to emotional story telling, there are few games that can genuinely make some one sad. And this is one of them

Only after completing story, you'll feel this soundtrack to it's core

I love it this pause music captures the perfect dark gritty depressing life of a hired hitman. sure you can drive around in your comet playing liberty city rock radio in a suit looking all fancy going to clubs.But once you pause your life the depressing music starts playing

it’s so haunting, but so beautiful. coming home from school and playing this for 5-6 hours was just perfection

This game was too deep for my middle school mind back in the days....

My mother (God rest her soul) purchased this game for me back in Christmas 2014 and sometime later in the summer of 2015 I fell into a deep depression and so I played this game to cheer me up but even the game itself, although it was fun causing chaos and having reckless shenanigans, it was overall depressing. The story, the music, the environment, Niko Bellic's backstory it was all depressing. As of this today I will forever treasure this game as a reminder of the lowest moment in life and how I got out of it.

They say videogames are useless. I beg to differ. The amount of strong messages that came out of this game was incredible. "There is no such thing as a new beginning, Roman. Even though frustrating at times gta iv has the best and the most realistic storyline in the whole gta franchise.

This music is a perfect embodiment of the darkness in Niko's past and the false hope that moving to Liberty City was. And as you walk through this season of his life, it's this music that represents how he feels through all of it. I love it.

A game that deserved a movie

There will never be any GTA game that can be dark, intense, depressing and heart touching as GTA IV was. This game could be a movie the storyline was that brilliant. 👏

The reason why I love this song is because this song symbolizes Niko's tragic life, what he lost.

When it started to play.. damn I literally felt the gloom, darkness and Niko Bellic vibes in my right ear. Like he is telling me his interesting background in the Yugoslavia war , which included (like every war) atrocities to humans and other things, which you couldn´t imagine ,friend. A man tries to evade the memories and past, but those will still come back.. doomed. His wounds and the pain made Niko.B , how we feel him and how we love him. Dry humour, fulminant soldier skills and his personality in general ( friendly, calm , mostly likeable, family mindset etc..) . The tune of a cold soul , which searches the warm side of the life. Masterpiece forever.

Perfectly shows Darkness of GTA IV.

Just watched the GTA 6 trailer but this GTA will always be my favorite and have a special place in my heart, the darknesss is unmatched

I suffered Hell as a child and teen. This game got me through those years. The only way I could get out my anger in those times was to commit massacres on a city wide scale. My people killed stat reached the thousands and when I beat the game it only grew more. I recently played it again and after experiencing even more tragedy, loss, and betrayal, being hospitalized and placed into psych wards after serving in the military, I found a deep appreciation for the story of Niko Bellic. GTA iv is the most important game in my life and the theme brings me comfort in knowing that the darkness some of us experience in the world unfairly and without reason is just that, evil and without comprehension. Only I am blessed in that unlike Niko I have learned to no longer let my past haunt me

The very late 2000's and early 2010's gaming was fucking gold

Listen to 7:33 and 4:19 close your eyes and imagine the scenario when I'm pointing my gun at Faustin, it's thundering. Just experiance the sadness, the guilt of killing him realising he was a good guy, and trusting a snake like Dimitri causing either Roman to die, or Kate.

It was such a dark game and I loved it so much because of that. Ever since I played this game. When I went back to gta 5, it felt like it was cartoony compared to gta 4

To me the pause music is one of the most understated things about this game. It's just a testament to how much work was put into every single detail of this game. Trully a masterpiece.

Life after a brutal war, then a failed Job in the Merchant Navy, betrayed by friends and sold by Employers. Niko Belić truly is a man without a soul, trying to find some sense of closure in Life. I suppose such is the life of being born in Yugoslavia in the 90s.

Coming from school, play 3 hours and after eat pizza and new more 3 hours and go sleep. That was simple life, no job,no problematic girls, no beers ,no stress, hell yeah that was good days.

7:33 that shows just how sad the game can make you, it's a sound you could relate to,5:53 I love the violin, the game just shows the empathy that you feel when you hear that.. living in a world where everything and everyone you know isn't ever the same. The world we live in now tells us society isn't going to a good path.

I played various GTA titles but when i played GTA IV as an early teenager kid, the game remained pretty close to me especially when it hits me with profound melancholy, but a real and honest one, it taught me that sometimes life is not always what you always wanted it to be but to embrace it. That's what you learn from a video game : strong emotions that you felt during gaming transforms into some sort of practical wisdom for your life and GTA IV is one of them being capable of doing this. (or it doesn't for some people and that's okay too).

I can't believe that a game this old made me feel this bad for the protagonist, new games hardly make me attached to the main protagonist of the story or the side characters man i feel so old and i'm only 2 years from being an adult

When i hear GTA V menu music, I imagine sky with stars. When i hear THAT, only pile of dead bodies comes to my mind. And they was tortured before die. Genius track for awesome atmosphere

As cheerful and bright as gta 5 was, it was still dark when you paid attention But gta 4 was tragic as fuck Its hauntingly beautiful

GTA IV : A story of a lost soul, seeking redemption only to be heading into a darker hole. Making morally questionable choices and affecting the lifes around him in a river darkness, surrounded by neon lights. Crime isn't pretty, but it's the only option to make a name for yourself and make a living. GTA V : A funny and wacky modern-satirical story about 2 old Heisters and a young kid go do heists again while dealing with their personal lifes. Also no one cares about the story anymore, it's all online grind with lots of sharkcards and limiting how you get money because RS doesn't care about fun. Also, no SP updates for almost 8 years since release and no mod support.

I didn't connect with GTA Vs story in the same way i did with IV.. the soundtrack alone makes my skin crawl.

This is probably rly weird but I just love listening to this track when I’m in like a dark and sad mood. Ik that’s weird but it just feels right for when I’m feeling like that. Also I love GTA 4, truly shows what the American reality is for us immigrants, not saying all of us are involved in bad stuff but for those who were in their home countries this is just how it is when you move here

i still don’t understand to this day how gta 5 has got that big hype and gta 4 didn’t get that sort of a thing… its pretty sad honestly i feel like gta 4 is so much more unique in terms of Darkness, car driving (WHICH FEELS REALLY GOOD) First and probably the best Euphoria physics out of all games (RDR1 is also a really good one with this) and Max Payne 3 but i feel like GTA IV is way too much underrated and it deserves much more attention what it received in reality

in gta 3 and lcs liberty city was already a dark city with very dark colors... but in gta 4 they went too far... without any debt this is my favorite gta

I bought PS3 Model 3000B and installed this game immediately. And guess what? I platinum-ed this game within 3 weeks! The vibe, the storyline really touched me! Even GTA V can't beat the darkness of GTA IV.

Rockstar went from this, grounded, gritty and complex world of GTA IV to flying bikes and apocalypse trucks of GTA Online. They sold out.
