It also reflects the hardships Rockstar suffered before they made this game. By the time GTA 4 came out the only key original members left at Rockstar were Sam, Dan Houser, and Lazlow. If you read the book "Jacked" you'll learn about it.

My mother (God rest her soul) purchased this game for me back in Christmas 2014 and sometime later in the summer of 2015 I fell into a deep depression and so I played this game to cheer me up but even the game itself, although it was fun causing chaos and having reckless shenanigans, it was overall depressing. The story, the music, the environment, Niko Bellic's backstory it was all depressing. As of this today I will forever treasure this game as a reminder of the lowest moment in life and how I got out of it.

Always used to play this with my best mate during sleepovers/ weekends etc. He was severely depressed as well and was always happy when we spent time together. When we went to sleep we always left the TV on and put this pause theme on. Same with tbogt which was always so relaxing. He took his life some years ago and this music always brings tears to my eyes but also happiness cause we had good times. I really miss him. They say videogames are useless. I beg to differ. The amount of strong messages that came out of this game was incredible. "There is no such thing as a new beginning, Roman. With every day we live, we pick up new baggage, baggage that we must carry with us for the rest of our lives. There's no dropping it and pretending we are fresh and clean just because we got off a boat." "The dead get closure, the living do not." "War is when the young and stupid are tricked by the old and bitter into killing each other." "After you walk into a village and see fifty kids sitting neatly against the church wall, each with their throats cut, and their hands chopped off, you realise that the monster who did this doesn't have a soul." "So this is what the dream feels like. This is the victory we longed for." "You didn't change the game, the game changed you!" "YELLOW CAR!!!"

Like he is telling me his interesting background in the Yugoslavia war , which included (like every war) atrocities to humans and other things, which you couldn´t imagine ,friend. A man tries to evade the memories and past, but those will still come back.. doomed. His wounds and the pain made Niko.B , how we feel him and how we love him. Dry humour, fulminant soldier skills and his personality in general ( friendly, calm , mostly likeable, family mindset etc..) . The tune of a cold soul , which searches the warm side of the life. My people killed stat reached the thousands and when I beat the game it only grew more. I recently played it again and after experiencing even more tragedy, loss, and betrayal, being hospitalized and placed into psych wards after serving in the military, I found a deep appreciation for the story of Niko Bellic. GTA iv is the most important game in my life and the theme brings me comfort in knowing that the darkness some of us experience in the world unfairly and without reason is just that, evil and without comprehension. I played various GTA titles but when i played GTA IV as an early teenager kid, the game remained pretty close to me especially when it hits me with profound melancholy, but a real and honest one, it taught me that sometimes life is not always what you always wanted it to be but to embrace it. That's what you learn from a video game : strong emotions that you felt during gaming transforms into some sort of practical wisdom for your life and GTA IV is one of them being capable of doing this. (or it doesn't for some people and that's okay too).

GTA IV : A story of a lost soul, seeking redemption only to be heading into a darker hole. Making morally questionable choices and affecting the lifes around him in a river darkness, surrounded by neon lights. Crime isn't pretty, but it's the only option to make a name for yourself and make a living. GTA V : A funny and wacky modern-satirical story about 2 old Heisters and a young kid go do heists again while dealing with their personal lifes. Also no one cares about the story anymore, it's all online grind with lots of sharkcards and limiting how you get money because RS doesn't care about fun. Also, no SP updates for almost 8 years since release and no mod support.

Did you play GTA IV in the 2008 season? How was there no hype? The game earned a 10 from IGN, sold 6 million in a week that was an absolute record at the time, broke standards. And thanks to GTA IV the hype in GTA V was so great, because GTA IV was so surreal and realistic for its time that they only expected GTA V to be a colossus too.

@@helmedfox9559 GTA V is fine as in the base game and story. The problem as I stated is entirely with GTA Online which is designed to strip you of your cash after having already paid full price for the game. GTA V is now 10 years old on PC yet is still selling for £30. This monetisation is also the reason why it's taken 10 years for another GTA game, its much much cheaper to and more profitable to push out DLC and monetisation for an aging game than developing, publishing and marketing a new one. To put it bluntly its utterly disgraceful display of corporate greed.
