People that take it extremely seriously can be annoying, but at the same time it's the reason these types of videos exist. it wouldn't be as funny if everyone was goofing off. It's hard to pretend to be a crazy person if everyone is crazy.

I have to say, while I can respect that they're trying to roleplay, they're missing a huge cornerstone of improv acting. And that's the principle of "yes and?" You never try to shut down what someone else is doing. That's never interesting. You always try to play off of it and develop the narrative. For example, they could've called the police, or perhaps even sued Grognak (then Grognak could be their lawyer and prosecute himself/herself/Grogself). Maybe RPing is handled totally differently, but these people don't seem very good at the fundamentals of acting. Regardless, Kevin handled it perfectly. I have never seen such a well-intentioned heckler before, and it's hilarious!

A good roleplayer would be shocked and appalled during the first two minutes... And then roll with the batshit insanity. Pull out a phone and start recording. Complain to hospital staff. Interact with the other people standing around. A bad roleplayer just stands there going 'leave this is a funeral boohoo'

Because the person was supposed to have died at the hospital. It's more convenient and less immersion-breaking to simply do the role-play in the hospital than to pack everyone up in a car and drive to the cemetery first.

If a person dies at the hospital, it is common that the family comes to the hospital to say the last goodbye before the dead body is brought into the cooling area to be fetched up by the mortician. That's probably what they recreated. It's no funeral though.

I get that they were trying to rp but... that's definitely not the way to rp. It's no fun sitting in a circle in muted silence over a fake death/ funeral (why have the actual funeral in the hospital regardless if they sought full realistic immersion?), and they certainly seemed like a clique. I get that the woman would probably be mad at someone "not showing respect for her dead husband" but there's no need to be so entirely aggressive about it. Even the woman guarding the hospital was this way. If they really wanted the peaceful immersion they should've gone to a private server, because they had it coming for doing something like that on a public server. Also, I don't believe any of that group actually understood that rp literally revolves off of improv and including/welcoming strange events. What's fun in controlling what happens with everything in the rp?

I feel like maybe she understood what was going on, playing the straight man to grognak. The video wouldn't work otherwise, although maybe I'm just giving her the benefit of the doubt. But yeah even if that was the case she did get a bit to angry about it. If I were her I would've out of character actually talk to Kevin about it (maybe she was doing like an actual story ark, but even then why wouldn't you just play d&d if you want that kind of experience)

As someone who avidly roleplayed for a while, I’ve never met anyone who cried over a dead character. Even if it was a beloved character of a friend. Maybe over a dead role player, an actual person, but not a character. I feel like these people are teenagers, from how upset they’re getting. Source: am a teenager. Edit: God, the people who are that controlling to the point of harming or killing someone’s else’s character are more unpleasant than someone actively trying to be unpleasant. Why would you host a serious RP in a public service in a public area of the map and then get angry when someone interferes?

If ya ask me, if I died in a game, it would be a lovely opportunity to test stuff out. Does my corpse float here? If you threw me at a car, could I stop the car? Would I break a window? How many corpses can we fit in this room? Can I burn my body? Can my friend eat me? Etc etc etc.

The "dead" guy should have hopped out of the hospital bed and gone "Whoa hey I'm alive!" to join in Kevin's silliness (which ended up being half-RP anyway) and maybe get the mega drama RPers to cut the cringey wavery voices. The second-hand embarrassment was so intense for me. And if I hear the word "respect" one more time within the year my skull will swirl and implode into a black hole.
