In GTA 4, if you kill an owner or attack him. There will be some guys who will attack you. I died many times. After I earn a reputation with Jacob. The ammunition shop became useless after all for the rest of the story in GTA 4 in 3d era of GTA games, Ammunition is essential but lacks of variety. I argue that GTA 5 ammunition shop is worth i guess (coz i don't play the game)

In gta online you dont need to go to ammunation shop to buy ammo. Instead just buy it on interaction menu

Fun fact. In GTA SA, if you shoot the store owner with a sniper rifle, he won’t die instantly. He will fire four shots at you, then there is the splat sound and he makes a funny death scream.
