The first battle from GTNY's "Most Hated" Tournament, where 8 emcees are battling for a shot to take their music careers to the next level as a recurring act on Immortal Technique 's "Middle Passage Tour."
This battle features two of the best battle rappers/song crafter combinations in the country: Marvwon & Ness Lee. Marv brings a witty style with a street edge to the table, while Ness focuses on wordplay, metaphors & lyracism. Definetly a matchup for the ages!
Please note: Someone in the crowd fainted during Marvwon's 3rd round and cause a major distraction, which affected the last round of the battle.

Really liking the quality of the vid...big up to the cameraman and editing crew. This is how ALL battles in GT should look. But anyway...from the jump, I predicted that Ness would outstyle/outshine Marvs lines eventhough theyre both REALLY dope IMO (as well as everyone else in the tourney). Great battle.

Immortal Technique made a very good point about NYC alienating themselves and ultimately hurting their scene by treating every other region of rappers as if they were inferior. We, as musicians, need to unite in order to achieve notoriety on a national level.

I think it's clear that Ness Lee is one of the best in Grindtime. As great as Marv is, Ness Lee's flow and delivery just overpowered that battle. Great filming, by the way, and props to Immortal Technique for giving the emcees who lose the chance to rock when he comes to their city.

Who said Ness Lee was trash? His bars are crazy! Actual intelligent metaphors, delivery and versatility. First round I was still in denial until he started snapping during the second. I'm not sure why there was so much deliberating. I guess cuz it's Marvwon (I'm a fan by the way), so they feel like he has to get some consideration. However, Ness Lee not only had some funny ass punchlines, he pieced together the lines well, and his flow was switched up enough to make you say, "Damn, he's finished? Damn!" Yeah, I agree with the way it was put. I would say that marv got the first, but after that ness got the other two. It was a great battle, I don't know what the hell happened in the third but honestly marv really lost all of his momentum when he came into the 3rd. This was a dope battle. Honestly Rocky was right when he said that he could easily see this as a main event. Both are really dope.

Good stuff from Ness. Got scared after Marv's first round but Ness came back in the second. In the third, Marv didn't sound like the Marv from the first round and didnt have any bars that hit, mostly filler stuff. Ness really got it with the later half of his third and won it with that. Can't wait to see who he faces in the next round.

I couldn't call it until Marv lost momentum in the 3rd. 1st 2 rounds a tie IMO but consistency won it for Ness. Glad Marv still gets a show out of it too, gotta big up Immortal Technique for that.

immortal technique is THAT dude. Poison Pen and PH have done a great job with the NY division. They've got the grittiness and the respect to run a division in a place like NY. I love Jaze (no homo), but he couldn't have done what Pen and PH have managed in the past year. I still hope they'd all make up for the sake of hip hop.

Ness easily has ONE of the best cadences in battle rap today, in my opinion the best. Someone said something about him stuttering........ And your point is? Every rapper stutters / stumbles a bit. It was awesome watching ness and sir locksley battle, locksley is my other favorite, his off kiltered word play reminds me of a grittier Ness or pharaoh monche.
