GTR Trans & Differential Fluid Change

I change the the front & rear differential gear oil and GR6 transmission fluid of my Nissan GTR. The procedures online were not as detailed and confusing, so I did it my own way and the car is performing great. Enjoy the video!
*FYI: The procedure I used was based on the 2009-2011 GTR service manual. Doh! I discovered the 2012+ manual after making this video. The methods are different, but both lead to the same result which entails circulating and bleeding of the transmission. My transmission shifts great the way I did it and still gets those 10.9 1/4 miles.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi GT Content. What do you think about 2017 or 2018 GTR transmission?If I just keep engine power with stander,this transmission is this ok to use for track day and daily drive both? Thank you.

Nice vid, I just diy'd this service last weekend. Very easy to do. I have some suggestions. #1 Use a different hand pump ($10) for your diff fluid from your transmission fluid (just my paranoia with mixing fluids in an expensive trans) . #2 Replace your fill bolts and crush washers, and use a torque wrench set at correct ft/lbs. #3 Most of my bolts holding the under panels were rusted, so I replaced them all, picked up painted carriage bolts from lowes for the panel under the transmission (M8x1.25 16mm long) diffuser took (M6x1 20mm long and M8x1.25 16mm) I used stainless steel bolts and make sure you pick up washers that have the same footprint as the oem. #4 the trans takes 7qts-8qts if its a drain and refill, no need to buy 10qts unless you are changing sump and line filters. I used jacks transmission fluid $28qt has extra detergents and the change intervals is changed from 18k to 25k.

J Low it’s not really for that your supposed to undo the fill first cause if you drain the diff and you can’t get the fill open you can’t refill the diff. and it drains better and faster if u open the fill first

@@donny303 doesn’t matter the age of the vehicle. It’s a PRO tip. You can damage a bolt or it was cross threaded. Either way always secure that you can fill it before emptying.

I changed the oil and the oil looked pretty good, BUT nope, after changing it, the trans is even smoother! i dont even hear the trans shifting into first gear when coming to a stop like before and shifts are sooooo smooth. :) got 8qt of amazon - they had sale going oin $137 for 8qts of motul.

Thanks for the Video...I'm kind of deciding now, what I should buy as a first real performance car (I only have a JCW atm). The R35 always fascinated me, but I've heard horror stories from people who "know someone with a GT-R" that had to spend 3-4 grand just to get all the oils changed and that there was no possibility to do it on your own. Obviously that scared me out of the GTR, but this video made me interested again to look into the newer models with the new interior. Maybe I won't be buying a ZL1 after all...

Hey man thanks a lot for your videos. I am considering a pre-owned Gt-R to purchase, but the only thing that concerns me is the warranty things- are these cars reliable over time when properly cared for, as opposed to let's say an M3, etc... Id assume they are since they are a nissan product but I never hear anyone discuss their reliability over time.. Wouldn't want to finance something that becomes a huge money pit after 50k miles on it.

Just did this about a week ago. The front differential fill nut was a pain in the butt to remove...I did hear from other GTR members that the rear differential fluid amount changed to 1.3 L instead of 1.55L. But I also have been hearing that the factory is still putting 1.55 L when shipped to dealership. People said they are still finding 1.5 L or more when they drain their rear differential. I decided to fill mine like you did..hope it’s all good. But the car has been running great!
@GTContent
@GTContent 6 жыл бұрын
taegukgi510 Yes, mine has been doing great even though I didn't follow the 2012+ procedure. The idea is to just to fill adequately and thoroughly bleed the fluid and you should be fine. Car was able to do a 10.8 1/4 mile recently which is documented in my recent import Faceoff video.

I made a video on GTR maintenance costs: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nalzisposrzdfWw.html You can daily drive a GTR because Nissan originally designed it to be the everyday supercar (dry, gravel, rain, snow). Just be aware that the more wear you put on the car, the sooner your maintenance intervals.

And how can I change the oil gearbox filter? You need to replace the whole pan like in some ZF's?

How often do u change these fluids like every 5-10k? I know for most cars trans fluids and differential are rare to do. Long as its not low

Hey I just did this fluid change on my 09 and I keep getting an engine system malfunction light so the code is PO447 and that’s evap system My gas cap was loose so I bought a new one and reset everything and I thought I fixed it ! Nope it came back but everything seemed to shift smoother..the problem initially was I floored it and it revved high in fourth gear and then that light popped up..after I switched the cap and reset it seemed to work but it came back...any help with this would be great ? Thanks

Is the gear oil weight 75w/140? Also how often do you change the transmission line filter? Thanks

Pictures at my Instagram. Line filter change has no specified mileage or timeframes. I'd suggest on your second change.

How many miles were on the car before you did this? I just hit 10k on mine...I get on it from time to time and Ive had one track day with it(temperature never passed 210 during the event). Currently it seems to stay around 190-195 during daily driving at 90-95 degrees temp.

Nissan's recommended service inverval for the GTR is as follows: 2009-2011: 18,000 miles (due to smaller tubing diameter) 2012+: 36,000 miles

Hello I have a 2015 gtr, do you know if adding downpipe dumps that replace the resonator on my car will get rid of my catalytic converter?
@GTContent
@GTContent 5 жыл бұрын
There are aftermarket downpipes with optional cats and no cats.
@Erikbotos

GT Content oh okay gotcha! But would the dump tubes that run under my car delete the cats?
@GTContent
@GTContent 5 жыл бұрын
No. If it's a custom fabrication, you can run the dumps after the cats. I'd suggest that if you're running dumps, then there's no need to run cats.
